Yeah, but how would you feel if you dominated the preceding leg, finishing 6 hours ahead of team #2, and 14 hours ahead of the team in last place, then having a sign up sheet where you and the two trailing teams all get the same departure time, and you end up getting a half-hour head start ahead of the last place team. That would piss me off. And I'm referring to the Cowturds in leg 2 of TAR 18.

Also, this show is a logistical nightmare for production. Bunching is as much for production as it is for the show, they need to get Phil to the mat before a team arrives, and he can't very well be there if one team is finally arriving at a finish line in Burma while another team is "FIRST TO ARRIVE AND WINS A TRIP TO TAHITI!" in China. I remember Phil doing a video blog of this almost happening even with the bunching.
There are also the set ups, camera/sound/people/helicopters/whatever for tasks in various countries, and if they didn't bunch them, those people would have to be there for days, or open places at 3AM. I'm pretty sure they also hold some seats on planes out of some places, and the teams need to be on them.
Bunching will always be there, benefit or hurt some teams, but the one that is saved by it one week may just die by it the next, there is no other logical way to produce this fairly expensive show.
