Posts: 3540 04/15/12 10:06 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I loved the first two episodes, especially in glorious HD. Although I do think that the harsh contrast between the first series and this series' worlds are, yeah, well, HARSH. Too much steam-punk for my taste, if they were aiming for that. But on the other hand it's understandable that the world of avatar is growing at a much bigger pace than our real world, since they can bend all sorts of materials and erect glorious structures in no time.

Plus he looks really shady on that pic posted on the previous page.

The creators have said that Ty Lee didn't create it and that it is a lost dark art. Remember how Ty Lee taught it to the Kyoshii warriors? Maybe Sokka and Suki have a non-bender kid who is the bad guy if it isn't Bumi 2. In other news - Dante Basco (Zuko) is returning on Korra, and his character will be related to Zuko in some way. Zuko+Mai kiddos!

Also, test post for the Korra gif i randomly found as my new avi <3 <3 If I recall correctly, A:TLA aired Saturday mornings as well. It's been so long though (2005!)... I remember having to wait an eternity for second half of Season 3 to air and the way Nick kept pushing it back made it seem like they wanted it to fail. The plus side was that they aired the last half back-to-back everyday for like a week that summer. I think Korra and Mako (BTW named for Mako, Iroh's original VA who passed away <3 <3 <3) will become a couple and Bolin will inadvertently help the anti-bender's because he will be blinded by his anger. You know that's how it will go down. ;) The creators said this was originally just going to be 12 episodes but Nickelodeon convinced them to expand it and they did another 14 episodes (season 2). HOORAY FOR NICK! :D I haven't read anything that has said if season 2 will be the definite conclusion YET so maybe we can cautiously hope this will go on for at least a third season. Although I would love to see a future series dealing with the next Avatar after Korra (male Earthbender - Bolin's son/grandson maybe?). Let's hope that Meelo has some sort of recessive trait from Aang's side of the gene pool: He is just the oddest looking character! Still cute but where did he get those brows from? :) I hope Sokka and Suki and Zuko and Mai have ridiculously good looking offspring.

Posts: 1292 04/15/12 01:00 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Here is the reason behind Aang's seemingly untimely death (Korra takes place 70 years after the end of the 100 Years War - Aang passed away 53 years after the end of the war): Konietzko: You gotta keep in mind that he was frozen in a state of suspended animation for 100 years, so he kind of burned up some of his extra Avatar time. The entire time that Aang was frozen in the iceberg, he was suspended in the Avatar State. This hundred-year long use of the Avatar State eventually led to Aang's relatively early death at sixty-six years old. Here is more Avatar Trivia: Aang, Kyoshi and Roku were all known for defying the leader(s) of their respective nations. Aang did not move to the Eastern Air Temple when he was told to and instead ran away. Kyoshi, at first refused to aid the 46th Earth King when he asked her to aid in the Peasant Uprising in Ba Sing Se and Roku nearly killed Fire Lord Sozin in an attempt to put a stop to his imperialistic actions. Aang and Kuruk were the only known Avatars to remain true to their NATIVE upbringing, seeing as how every other identified Avatar defied their people's customs or political figures in some way. For instance, Yangchen was famous for doing whatever it took to preserve balance, Roku threatened the political leader of the Fire Nation, and Kyoshi defied the Earth King's orders regarding the Peasant Uprising in Ba Sing Se.

However, according to Wikipedia (?), Avatar averaged about 3.1 million viewers for an average episode, though I know there was unusual scheduling. 4.5 million viewers isn't bad right? I don't know how it stacks up against other cable cartoon shows though.

Posts: 2018 04/22/12 02:33 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Except one does not choose to be a bender. Just whether or not they use their bending abilities once they find out. Bender's are not really that over powered. Someone like Ty Lee or Sokka is more than capable of annihilating any bender in a one on one fight. Most Bender's also take a long time to become master's of their art and therefore a threat (Bumi, Master Paku, That crazy bloodbending woman voiced by tress macneille.) And the risk of any of them going power hungry (like the bloodbender) is the same risk of a normal human causing destruction. (the conqueror that kyoshi defeated?) The big problem I could see they having a strong case for, is for situations like Azula, Toph. or Katara. People who show phenomenal talents at a very young age. Prodigies. They're far more unpredictable. But then again that's why they have the Avatar. To help the world when needed.
