Great episode <3 <3 I think it separated itself enough from Avatar that it's got it's own flavor... Seeing all the kids of the original characters was pretty funny Zuko's kids and Azula's kids to show up soon please!

Posts: 14275 04/14/12 11:33 AM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I recently watched all of Avatar: The Last Airbender a few weeks ago and wondered why there wasn't a thread for it - what an awesome series that was! I would never even watch a show like that but I heard it was good and decided to check it out. Amazing world building, characterization, and action. Also funny. As far as this series - I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I completely trust the creators. I want to know what happened to Zuko's mom!

Posts: 1292 04/14/12 02:07 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I just watched the first two episodes at Nick.com. <3 <3 I LOVED the original Avatar series. For some reason, I get a Zuko vibe from Mako (the Firebending brother) - gold eyes and dark hair - I wonder if he's related somehow? I just saw that he is voiced by David Faustino (Bud Bundy of Married with Children). O_o It looks like they are possibly setting it up for a love triangle between Korra and the two brothers though. I LOVED that Katara returned but I totally tear-bended when she said that Sokka and many of her friends had already passed on. I read that the creators are kind of following a mini-series format so there will be less filler episodes. Season 1 will be 12 episodes long and Season 2 will be 14. Things I'm hoping to see: Zuko's kids and Sokka and Suki's kids (because you know those two got married!), what happened to Zuko's mom, what happened to Azula after she went batshit crazy, Aang visiting Korra from the spirit world (after all the foreshadowing about Korra not having a spiritual side you know it's going to happen!), references to Toph and Iroh even if it's just in flashbacks... Oh and if Appa was the last Flying Bison, how does Tenzin have a new one?

It doesn't really make sense, since she's basically Aang part two. She should have the most trouble with earth (like Aang) or fire because it's her opposite.

Posts: 265 04/14/12 05:32 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Aang is nothing like Korra; Korra is headstrong, independent, and uncontrolled. That's the opposite of Airbending. Aang on the other hand was insecure (See Bato of the Water Tribe) and preferred a passive approach to obstacles, the opposite of Earthbending. She should have trouble with firebending because its her natural opposite, but they rewrote that part of the story so that now they have problems with the element that contrasts their personalities. Superb premiere, but I'm already annoyed with Mako and I don't care for Bolin as much as I thought I would. But Jinora more than makes up for that <3.

But Aang was born an Airbender and while he was pretty free-willed he was definitely more in tune with his spiritual side. Korra points out that the spiritual stuff doesn't come easy for her. I also came across this: Interesting to note that Katara and Aang had three children and only one was a non-bender. Maybe he'll end up being the villain? I seem to remember his airbender-like lack of discipline being the theme in numerous episodes. In fact, I thought air was the "indepenent and uncontrolled" element? I'll give you that he prefers the indirect approach more than Korra, but It still feels like they basically gave new chick an airbender's personality, but decided she was a water bender with trouble thinking like an airbender because that fit the other characters best. Also, it would be boring if firebending was her biggest trouble because that would basically be Aang season 3 all over again I guess. I think the head evil dude will either be Aang's non bending son or have some connection to firelord Ozai (who had his bending drained).

Posts: 1292 04/14/12 07:41 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Aang was pretty free spirited and independent too - It got him into trouble on several occasions especially when he was first trying to learn to firebend. Remember how he felt he knew more than Jeong Jeong and wound up burning Katara? Tenzin reminds me very much of the Airbender monks from Aang's flashbacks - reserved and calm - and very much not at all like Aang. I don't think it's Korra's independence that makes airbending difficult. It's the fact that she isn't in touch with her spiritual side. I bet if we got flashbacks of Avatar Roku or Avatar Kyoshi, we'd learn that they had independent streaks too as most pre-teens and teenagers do. :) I hope it doesn't take her long to channel the Spirit World though - I want to see Avatar Aang showing up on Appa.

Posts: 3288 04/14/12 08:01 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I think they are both independent and free-willed, but Aang is more spiritual and a go-with-the-flow type person, whereas Korra is more of a strong-willed, forceful, and even stubborn person. That's why she has difficulty with air-bending.. So is there an early consensus between Korra/Mako and Korra/Bolin? Personally I'm rooting for Mako because he has the potential to be a Zuko-esque character with quiet power.. But I guess it's still too early to tell though

IMO it seemed like they are definitely setting it up as a triangle with Bolin liking Korra and Korra liking Mako. Drowsy: I watched the first two episodes at Nick.com today and I think the premiere was also today. I don't know if they did back to back episodes but here is the airdate for episode 3: Book 1 - Air, Episode 3 Title: “The Revelation” Air Date: Saturday, April 21st at 11 AM. Here is the promo: I'm kind of sad that this season will only be 12 episodes long but no filler eps mean a fast paced season.� :)�

Posts: 3288 04/14/12 10:22 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Colorfulmetaphors: Yeah, that's what I presumed with Bolin going googly eyed over Korra and the ending scene with Korra and Mako kinda staring in each other's direction across the lake/sea/whatever thing. And also, for those who watched it on tv, there was a "Coming this season..." clip package, and there was a few seconds where Mako and Korra were standing facing each other and Korra says "Just admit it, you like me" (or something to that affect), and that few seconds made me fall in love with them as a couple <3 Oh and I worded it horribly, but my question was asking what the general opinions of fans are regarding who Korra should be with between the two, although it's probably too early to tell. Oh, and don't be sad about the 12 episode thing, cause the show has already been renewed for and at least started producing a 14-episode second season, so at the very least we are guaranteed 26 episodes of this show (and hopefully more!) Drowsy: I watched it this morning on Nickelodeon at 11 AM EST and it looks like Saturdays at that time will be the norm for this show.. Kind of a weird time, but if it attracts new, young viewers and keeps it on the air, then I'm totally cool with that time slot. Also, test post for the Korra gif i randomly found as my new avi <3 <3
