Phillip's first was great, loved Joshua's stuff, and overall everyone did pretty good w/ their first song. Hollie was even good and had a personality w/ that Adele song. Too bad it only lasted one song.

The first hour was intended for all you young kids with your pumped up kicks. Still, there was a major disconnect between Soul Train and the song choices of the second hour. September is the most likely to have been on Soul Train but Colton bleached out all the soul.

Combined ratings: 1. Hollie- the only person who was really good on both songs (which she badly needed to be). I love the Petula Clark comparison. 2. Elise- her first song is my least favorite by Alicia Keys--it is repetitious and was horrible overplayed. So I don't think Elise should have picked it. The second song was great and the judges were wrong to criticize it. 3. Joshua- his first song was a zillion times better than Mantasia's horrid version. The second one was great for 2/3 of the way, then went way over the top. 4. Skylar- both songs were good but neither was outstanding. The fiddler did help a lot. 5. Jessica- her first song was good, but the second was an OTT mess and she even slurred the opening line. Yes, her confidence and star quality are disappearing. 6. Colton- like most tonight, his first song was very good. But the second was an almost unrecognizable, slowed down near-disaster. It's also the same song that got Anwar voted off--DURING TOP 7 WEEK. That should have told him not to pick it. 7. Philip- neither song was awful, but I just don't care for his voice. Predictions: B3- Colton; B2- Hollie; Boot- Elise. The rebound effect is the only reason Jessica will be safe. Please note that the 2 people I think did best are also my projected bottom 2.

They played on AI two years ago. From what I read, it was the Siobhan Magnus boot episode.
