Borneo is probably best described as the Achilles heel of my Survivor fandom because even though it's what truly captured my heart in the first place, I was like ten years old when it was airing so my memories of it are a haze of mud baths, Colleen being c00t and Sue being a vicious hag. In order to correct (reinforce?) this, I tried to rewatch it a few months ago and simply could not get into it, but now in the name of being a ranquer I will force myself through it. It's like how when super fat people announce they're too fat and then they feel the pressure to get skinny and then they just stop eating and get all glamorous and shit (propz Claire McCaskill).

The intro to this is so raw and so real and so grainy that it feels like it was filmed in post-World War II Japan. The intro shots are so plain and lazy <3 props to whoever did Sue/Kelly/Richard tho.

What I can't get over is how much they gave them for supplies. I'm pretty sure they could have survived several years quite comfortably out there. It's almost as if watching people wither away to nothing leaving them with no energy to do anything productive doesn't make for good tv.

Richard is such an obnoxious force. I don't know how he survived past, like, episode three. Thank God they put obvious pre-merge boots on Tagi like Rudy and Sue to take the target off of him. Speaking of which, I don't know that there's ever been a more rull person than Sue ever on the show ever. I love that during every single Tagi group scene you can hear her squawking and yelping loudly in the background. She also righteously metes out advice when required like when she screeched "RICH I'M A REDNECK. THAT CORPORATE SHIT AIN'T GONNA WORK OUT HERE. ACTION, RICHARD!!! ACTION!!!!"

I was also partial to her explaining that eating a rat was ok because a rat's just a squirrel without a fuzzy tail. preach it, sue.

Anyway, Richard continues to lecture at Tagi literally all episode long despite them telling him multiple times they did not care at all. Personallyme, I suspect it's because he had a pretty undignified wet spot in his shorts which can undermine your message:


they're all just wondering if they should tell him or not. Thankfully people come around to him later, like when Rudy described him as "fat. fat but good."

This season is hilarious with the hokey things tho. Forcing them to swim out to Snake Island and dance around the Immunity Idol with torches <3 gong on the way into TC <3 Jeff randomly popping up to explain the concepts <3

So something that I cannot get over is how people always mbate to the very idea of Ramona when like....? She's really boring and also kind of sour. Basically all she did this ep was be like "it's really hot out here, i miss a/c " "I don't like water ." "this is really hard. " What I find most puzzling about this is that the same kind of person who FLOVES ramona like hates people like Kelly Czarnecki and Kelly Shinn who do the same shit but funnier (lookin at you kittypryde/madhack/et al). mild props for scheming to hide the water supply tho.

On the other hand I love what a scheming, sour neg-bitch Stacey is. A truly undercelebrated precursor to shinning stars like Kim Mullen and Candace Smith. Also losing Sonja was so crushing but she was like bred in a lab to be a first boot. She spent basically the entire ep puttering around smiling at people and entertaining them with a ukelele <3 never IVget.



Richard is way too much of a distraction to possibly win,
