So far I'm glad that Occupy exists for simply generating discussion about the Wall Street casino economy, the insanity of corporate personhood and the wealth inequality that exists in this country... however... I don't think I'm going to be joining the movement.

My first encounter with these folks was at an event where Richard Trumka was speaking this week and I guess the OccupyChi folks got wind of it and came in to listen to his talk mid-way through. Whenever Trumka said anything the Occupy guy agreed with, which was A LOT, he did this spirit fingers shit to show he agreed with what was being said. It was kind of annoying as fuck.

But it was nice out today so I went down by where there's protesting on LaSalle to check it out. Interestingly the bulk of the protesters were not actually on the sidewalk outside the Fed but instead in front of the building across the street, which just happens to be the old Illinois Continental Bank building. Until the 2008 shitstorm, Illinois Continental had held the distinction of being the biggest bank failure in U.S. history. Not that anyone chanting or holding signs had any clue or probably cared about that fact.

Mostly it was just people chanting and waving signs and getting attention from workers and tourists passing by on the sidewalks and in cars. And lots of honking. Though there was this old couple who wanted me to take some Anonymous buttons with Guy Fawkes on them and then when I declined that because I told them I'm not an anarchist they offered me an infowars Alex Jones button and tried to get me to take one of their homemade "End the Fed" DVDs.

Oh what I would do to go back in time and clone FDR to run for president again in 2012. It's not a violation of the 22nd amendment if it's a clone.
