And yes, Stannis is portrayed in the books as a rigid humorless self-righteous honorable type (that what the whole letter writing scene was meant to convey in the show).

The actress did a good job and it made LF seem like creep, no morals, killing machine we all know him to be. It's like how Sansa described him - he had 2 sides - the side that pretended to be her father and the "Lord Baelish side" that pushed Lysa out the moon door and had Dontos filled with quarrels.

Posts: 49254 04/09/12 05:47 PM MESS member Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I'll be watching it tomorrow - I am looking forward to seeing Brienne (female version of Ned) they're not even introducing some of the characters by name which makes it hard for those who haven't read the books (I don't remember Davos and Melisande being named) and Slynt should have looked slimier

I agree they might cut Cortney Penrose defending Edric in the castle this season, but Davos shipping him off leads to a very important turning point in book 3. I'll be really unhappy if they cut that out or change how Stannis going to the North comes to pass.

There is no Storm's End set and Penrose and Edric were not cast for Season 2 nor mentioned. I don't think you need Edric. Davos gets rescued, plots to kill Mel, goes into the dungeon, gets made Hand, then warns Stannis not to "put the cart before the horse." "Instead of winning the throne to save the realm, you should save the real to win the throne." I don't think you need Stannis mad at Davos to get Davos to talk him into sailing North. (I like Edric but I also think he can be cut without doing too much damage). Davos getting thrown in jail would also be a good cliffhanger for them to end Season 3 on (Book 3 is being split into 2 seasons).

Edric doesn't really seem all that important in the grand scheme of things (though I could see that fat fuck Martin suddenly bringing him back in the next book as a super annoying POV character that makes me want to kill kittens).

I don't see how you can't have them in Season 3 though. Drowsy suspects that Osha will help interpret Bran's dreams this season instead.

I assume Edric was left alive so eventually someone can parade him around as proof that Joff, Tommen, and Myrcella were bastards. Martin has said no new POV characters in Book 6 so hopefully you won't have to kill Ser Pounce, Lady Whiskers, or Boots in rage.

However, I hope that isn't what happens. Cutting Meera and Jojen makes me think ppl are right that GRRM won't go with the R+L=J storyline after all since Howland Reed would need to confirm a few things, would he not?
