Just to get this thread going again... Now that you pointed it out, I guess I do see the similarities between them in terms of the grand scheme. Both were major antagonists, scrappy, self-centered bitches turned ally. But Jennifer was just so OTT and hilarious that you could never really see the stitchwork behind her character (unlike Gale's clear storyarc in the original Scream) which just made her so entertaining and one of a kind. <3 Without Scream 4, Gale would be the clear winner and Sidney would be like 7/8 overall. But the meh (for Gale) and absolute breakout (for Sidney) showing in S4 really shook things up. =\

Also I loved the Jill twist and her speech at the end; it was just so fiting. They filmed Scream 4 about 20 mins from where I live. One of my friends actually got to meet Neve Campbell when they were shooting it. Very random.

On the other, Scream 4 was such a dignified way to end the series. I'm very afraid they're about out of steam from the next one and it will suck. Also, with each sequel, the trio gets more and more likely to be killed off. =(

Having the killer live would have been a far better end, and having Neve die would have made my ScreamWorld complete. ALSO, they should never have killed off Kirby ;_;

I think Scream 4 was the best after the original and other than the lame movie-in-a-movie opening scene the movie was interesting throughout. The reveal of Jill was SO surprising and fantastic that it could only be rivaled by the party ending of the original. I'd probably rank the characters left: 1. Sidney -- a true warrior and honestly? anyone that puts like jennifer above her needs to sort out their priorities 2. Stu -- ottn loony beta male 3. Jill -- a borewhore until the end where she became a legend 4. Dewey -- MOR god <3 5. Jennifer -- obnoxious underdog who was hard to watch die 6. Billy -- he has an interesting story but not really much presence throughout I really do love them all though but they're all so different.

I have a feeling the Jennifer fans (myself included) are similarly only being extra fantardish because they think everyone else dislikes her. Let's all just agree she's moderately awesome but not more so than other Scream legends. I know it's like blasphemy to not like the original best, but I personally feel that 1, 2 and 4 were pretty close in terms of quality. It always bugged me that ALL THREE of the sequels over-referenced the original. I mean "Stab" was absolutely brilliant, no arguments there. But I'm talking about how Scream 2 and 4 had a copycat angle and all of the main killers have went on and on about Billy (and Stu). It hasn't majorly backfired yet... but I feel like every time they do that, they kinda resign themselves to the inevitable truth that the movie they're making is an inferior sequel, which doesn't have to be the case! Furthermore, it underplays how good Scream 2 was by almost completely ignoring it's events in the sequels. Omg, update plz! <3

I have to say as much as I love Scream 2, I really wish Wes Craven/Kevin Williamson had gone through with the original ending of Scream 2. Hallie would have been such an amazing killer.
