7. Gale Weathers

JK Gale gives me plenty to write about <3.  Ok this is top 7 so it shouldn’t seem so hard to put Gale here… I had a hard time even putting her 6^th, but I have to be honest I enjoy the other 6 characters somewhat more than Gale who I adore and will forever love and cherish.  Everyone knows and loves Gale …  She defo has the attitude of a suckster, but is much too cool to actually post here.  She’s a hardcore bitch, who probably had the most development and change out of any of the characters in the franchise.  I love the first three incarnations of Gale.  In Scream she was a eager, fame seeking, Nancy Grace idolizing, manipulative, hard core bitch, who was crass, but brilliant and got everything she wanted.  Then she met Dewey and it was … I can manipulate and use you at first sight <3.  The dialog between Dewey and Gale outside on the steps about “Top Story and being 25 for a whole year” is seriously golden… and both parties work it so well .  It made me root and fall in love with them as a couple.  In Scream 2 you see Gale again and she is fleshed out a bit more… In Scream she was an awesome novelty funny bitchy character, but Scream 2 showed she had a heart and perhaps was effected by the events of the first film.  She still wanted fame, but at WHAT COST??? She isn’t so sure herself and the other question she is unsure about is “How can a HBIC like me be falling in love with Deputy Doofus”  Some more great dialog and scenes between Dewey and Gale, and Gale still gets to be a bitch with Debbie Salt which is great stuff.  I think Scream 3 really was a shining moment for Gale’s bitchy and comedic side (and a terrible moment for her hair), the Gale/Jennifer dynamic was classic couldn’t be beat… I would watch that shitcom with pride!  I also liked her Nancy Drewness and the ending with her and Dewey finally getting engaged made me :TEAR:  I know this is hella lame, but they are one of my favorite fictional couples and the fact that they were L a real life couple made it all the better.   However, Scream 4 minus a few good bitch moments “Where does this circle jerk take place” “I am going to revitalize your face with my tarnished brand” and the cult classic “ Your lemon squares taste like ass” I felt Gale was kinda meh for me.  I didn’t really have any emotional attachment to her or Dewey in S4 and I felt they were underwritten and poorly utilized compared to their former incarnations.  To make matters worse their marital troubles in the movie were emphasized 10 fold because of the real life drama, and the chemistry was gone… especially after Gale is stabbed and goes to the hospital and she says something like “Get that son of a bitch” it felt so lacking and meh it made me sad… On a more positive note I did enjoy her barn dance.  Damn this is a long write up but Gale deserves it and I know a lot of people will hate this placement, but it’s not that I dislike Gale at all I just enjoy the others more.
