Amazing episode..
I am def. watching the conclusion on L&O tonight (have to tape CSI NY). Great acting and the storyline was very interesting. It's obvious that the mother/daughter con team will be brought down by some past crimes but I can't wait to see what they have done. I bet it's something really twisted. |

Re: Law and Order SVU | ||

April was bamboozled by Benson/Hargitay by the implication that there was sufficient evidence to incriminate her/April in the death of her neonate 11 years earlier. Her mother (Lynda Carter) and her ex-boyfriend cooperated in this ruse. Mother's sentence thereby reduced to 20 years....
April: shocked, stunned, infuriated Lynda Carter: smug, vindicated Benson: smug, vindicated...as well I enjoy Hargitay, mind you, but her passion and crusading devotion are starting to wear thin... |

did they ever say why the person was killed by the mother? You could not believe anyhting either one said. Why did the daughter turn on the mother? Why did the mother turn on the daughter...revenge?

Quote: No, but I think it was because all three of them were supposed to split the money and the mother/daughter wanted the whole half a million to themselves. Quote: I am assuming it was because then the daughter decided that she wanted ALL of the money. Putting her mom in prison would guarantee that. Quote: Yep. To get the daughter back. |

Re: Law and Order SVU | ||
Quote:I was under the impression that April killed the man. The mother took the rap for her w/ the plan to get off w/ sefl defense. right? The mother couldn't prove that April was the shooter so she repaid the favor by telling the cops about the frantic phone call after April dumped her kid in the forest. (btw, did that call even occur or perhaps that was a lie to put the daughter in jail..) Why did they even need the mothers' testimony? They had her fingerprints on the garbage bag and the cook's word. |

Next week's SVU looks to be an all Olivia all the time episode, but this one looks really fucking good...

Quote: Yeah, that's right. But they were still in on it together and then the daughter ended up turning on the witness stand. Quote: They never found the baby's body, or the grave or any of the stuff in the grave (such as the garbage bag and the towel). That was all fake so they could freak her out and get her to confess. |

I've got to say that those two episodes of Law and Order were two very fine hours of acting and television.

Quote:Tru dat.. I like Beson a lot more than Stabler and luv watching Mariska Hargitay turn out amazing performances...which looks to be the case for this upcoming show (and last week as well for that matter). Quote:Oh..missed that part, obviously. I wonder though if the mother's claim about the phone call happened. Maybe she lied just to nail the daughter and put her in jail. Hmmm.. Also, did April/mother plan to kill the man for the money and then stage self defense if caught or did it really go down the way the mother said after being cornered in jail? Like, was there actual molestation and April killed him for that or was that complete bs and it was all greed? Ugh, so confusing. |

somehow I don't think the girl that led so many men to be "harvested' for thier sperm, then used for the pregnacy inthe first show, etc, would be too worried about the molestation.
I also think that the benson actress overacts, so much so that she takes away from the story lines. NAd can she ever dress in anything but those tight brown pants? How about a nice mini? or some type body suit? No self respecting lady would wear the same damn type outfit every day to work.... |

Re: Law and Order SVU | ||

I have to disagree. I don't think Mariska Hargitay overacts at all. She has powerful command over her skills and can convey emotions with ease. I think she's a master at her art, and she's very versatile as well.

^ ITA, don't think Mariska Hargitay overacts either. I think she can call upon emotion easily w/o much workup and provides many powerful scenes.
Like I said in an earlier post, I much prefer Benson to Stabler and although both are talented actors, I think Hargitay rounds out the show. Also, man props to BD Wong, luv him! |

overacting vs. character's intensity | ||
|
I am feeling that the suggestion that Hargitay overacts may be the result of the charged intensity that the writers are injecting into Benson's character. I, too, have felt distracted by Benson's (over)involvemnt in her cases and what appears to be this character's need to save and protect. The character's psych issues (ACOA, etc.) may be being developed a la Stabler's anger issues.

but that doesn't explain why she wears the same damn outfit every show...

Quote:I have noticed that added passion for the victims this season. I don't mind the newer level to the character, still think Mariska is spot on w/ the acting. |
