Yeah, Tyra and Landry's reaction and dumping the body was over the top. They should have called the cops and said that they were defending themselves.
First you go through the wallet, then you dump the body.

Heh.
Well we don't know for certain the body was dumped yet, right? I liked Papa's post last page -- nice to read a defense of the incident. My problem remains that they're taking the hilarity of the Landry/Tyra and sacrificing it on the alter of melodrama. Still, maybe we ought to keep an open mind. Anyhow, has anybody been to the main Sucks page and seen the current OSTS subnic? |

I must be the other one of the four. I think the last two quit watching because they're pissed about the mini-Matt-Damon murder stroyline. |

Don't get me wrong. I can see this Landry-Tyra storyline becoming a fast disaster for the show (which is probably regular TV's best drama), but
I'm trying to give the writers the benefit of the doubt. I do disagree with the notion that Landry's actions/choices are out of character for him
because he's never been a major character, so we really have no basis as to what he would/wouldn't do. (Now if it were Saracen and Julie, I'd be
crying FOUL louder than most). Seems like infatuation bringing out the worst in otherwise good people is a tale as old as time.

i think that there are more than 4 of us watching
can we have Coach back..I don't like the new one..he's a a-hole. And Julie better check herself!! The Swed will only break her heart. And it's too see that I wasn't the only one annoyed with the new Layla holy-than-thou...hopefully Riggens will remind her on why it's so good to sin
the landry/tyra thing doesn't bug me as much as everyone else. the only thing that i didn't like was the fact his dad is a cop...so they would have gotten away with it anyways. And Papayoke has a very valid point...who's to say that Landry isn't capable of doing that. It's the "flight or fight" response..and as he will trya in the next epi he would do it again because he loves her. I can believe what he did...a little streched on dumping the body though. So happy that this back on...not to happy that it's on Friday's but whatever I'm still watching and trying to tell everyone too!! |

I, too, was disappointed by the Landry-Tyra-dead rapist story line. It would have absolutely perfect, and absolutely in character, and absolutely REAL LIFE (which is what I love about FNL) to have Landry get knocked down trying to protect Tyra [and failing]. Now it's just stupid melodrama unless they manage to fix it. Other than that, though, I think the other storylines were fine. Coach/Tami being separated. He was ready to quit the TCU job, and she insisted that he take it; now, she realizes that she wishes he had quit it. It's been years since she had a young child and likely has forgotten all the emotions that new motherhood stirs up. It also fits that Julie has doubts about Matt. I wasn't sure, but her conversation in the car with her dad made a lot of sense (although my wife said girls don't talk to their dads like that---opinions??) |

i did so love how jason street rolled up on mrs. coach and gave her the acknowledgment that she was so important to his life. "because you said so."
and the but one second of fnl showing us she got that. that was so season one.
but i totally agree with the overprivileged athlete in his "how can you not be with your baby?" assessment. dude might be a dick, but he's right. boo coach... |

Really enjoyed the epi last night. My husband called it half-way though...before seeing the preview. Coach is gonna return to Dillon High. I could feel Mrs.
Coach's pain last night. Battling postpartum depression, lonely and overwhelmed. Loved that Landry confessed his love to Tyra. Please Tyra, don't
hurt him. Cheered Coach's speech to that egotistical spoiled brat of a football player.

I'm still watching, too. Love this show! Tami being overwhelmed with the baby and Julie rings true. Julie just seems like she's being a typical bratty
teenager. Love Matt's grandma! Couldn't believe she ordered a $2400 tiara! And yelling at the nurse to get out of her house! Loved seeing Jason, Tim,
and Smash, too. Buddy getting drunk was also funny. Wonder where they are going with Tyra/Landry.

Julie is definitely growing up on us, but I don't think she looks bad at all. Her storyline still sucks, though.
Anyhow, what a relief! That ep felt like a FNL of old. Example: how a sequence can start out with the yucks of Landry and his rally girl, then pivot and turn into the act like a man conversation. Loved Coach at the board promising to make Antwan's life miserable for a season, too -- that's Coach of old, right there. Anybody feel like something's up when the TMU coach said he must've been a hell of a high school coach. Was that a compliment or a veiled criticsim? Something's not right there. Sad to see Buddy coming unhinged. I used to hate that character, but as with all things FNL, they've managed to give him enough depth to sell this story arc. Even the dead rapist thing is being handled in a manner worthy of FNL. I'm really hoping to be able to write off the opener as an aberration, which it now looks like it was. |

Piranhahaha wrote:My boyfriend thought the same thing, Piranha. While I liked this episode much better than the season premiere, I miss football. I know this show is only based very loosely on the book but I think they need to play some football. Without that element, it seems to me that it's turning into just another soap opera. Coach's turn last night doing what he does best reminded me what I loved about last season. He's missing as the moral center of this show and this town's obsession with football seems to have all but disappeared. |

Yeah, I thought that "must've been a hell of a HS coach" was a bit of a that shit works in HS, but in College
we coddle and turn the blind eye stuff. Great episode, nevertheless..
