DVD Set - just okay | ||
|
The actual show looks great, but the extras on the dvd set weren't spectacular for me to recommend it to anyone that already has season 1 and 2 on dvd.
The "interview" with David Lynch was fairly inane and not worth watching. The "making of" portions were the most interesting parts because
of the clips of Mark Frost. Unfortunately, he hints at having story arcs in mind for season 3 without going into any detail. That's what I want to know.
Given the rebirth of Buffy/Angel through comics, God what I wouldn't pay for a season 3 in comic form! All the characters would still exist just as they did at the end of season 2, and there'd be no budgetary constraints or network imposed limitations. I'm betting that two years from now, perhaps on Easter Sunday, there'll be another dvd release commemorating the 20th anniversary of the murder of Laura Palmer. Will the lost scenes from Fire Walk With Me finally appear? |

Hmmm. Maybe the "I'll see you again in 25 years" was literal. Look for season three to debut in 2014. ;) |

Holy crap, SI, thanks for posting that link. I think the comics would have been interesting, but unless the plot came from original Lynch/Frost ideas, I think
it would be hard to really digest as truly being attached to the show. At least I'd have a hard time with it.
The artwork looked interesting. I'd have to see some sequential panels to know if I was really disappointed it didn't come to fruition. |

Yeah I would have a hard time too unless it was officially authorized by them type of thing. The art looked fantastic.

I'm in the Dark Zone of eps (post Leland's death, pre-Windom Earl). Good lord James is heading to Evelyn's. BOB help me. A few good nuggets here
and there. Major Briggs and Cooper's fishing trip/abduction by the Dugpas was good. And I LOVED Audrey/Bobby's scenes. They made a great, non couple
pair.

Really? I was bored to death when Major Briggs was focused on (pre-Windham). I really think they let too much time pass b/t revealing Laura's killer and
introducing Windham.

I'm just watching my spanky new DVD Twin Peaks set and I love every scene Audrey is in. That dance at Norma's to the haunting music is classic
T.P.'s.
I also loved Maddy waiting for Donna and James while Dr. Jacobi watches on in a trance. Then you have the claustraphobic paranoid 'handsome' guy who has the diary and Donna's new Meals on Wheels job. (I hated it when they offed him). and Andy/Lucy...man, I miss this show! Oh, and I almost forgot! LEELAND...he's one of my ultimate favs. 'The dances, the singing, the madness, the crying meltdowns..it's all just too fun!'

I'm about to start Ep 23. Poor Josie didn't see that dresser knob coming did she? Loved this ep. One of my faves.

You can see the beginning of a return to form by Frost/Lynch in episode 23 after suffering through 6 straight pure crap filled episodes.

I loved the puzzle box storyline. :) I so want one of those.
I didn't mind Lana especially when everyone was enchanted with her. Segued nicely into Miss Twin Peaks and brought back the Mayor all the way from the pilot. How much you bet that actor was a little surprised to be in a love story at this age in his life My only real complaint is the use of Annie instead of Audrey. Thanks for torpedoing a great romance Kyle! Would have made the ending so much better. |

oh Annie... poor Heather Graham never did learn to act did she? Her wide-eyed head tilt always reminded me of a dog tilting its head trying to understand
English.
And re: Josie/dresser knob. A dresser knob?? Seriously now, what the fuck. Of all things??? Was there ever any reasoning mentioned as to why a KNOB? |

Not so much about the knob itself but there are theories about her being trapped in wood. pete's comment in a later ep "Josie I see your face!"
while facing a mantle seem to support them.

Yea I got the "trapped" idea, but a knob? Geez. Seems too degrading and lame for a cool character. Even the walls would have been cooler, especially
visually.

I thought the knob was a cool visual. Why not? It's wood and it was nearby. Her face popping out of it was pretty cool especially for the early 90s.

Oh man watching the special features on the Gold Box set. Wow this making of doc is freaking comprehensive. Amazing stuff. Looks like just about EVERYONE is in
this save Richard Beymer. Loving it.
