I'm going by Dominic West's comments in his interview (it was posted a few pages back) that we would get to see the new Omar, Bubbles and McNulty in
the finale.

I could see Carver as the new Daniels, he is steadily working his way up the ranks.

"He was the black sheep. The permanent pariah. He asked no quarter of the bosses and none was given. He learned no lessons. He acknowledge no mistakes. He
was as stubborn a Mick has ever stumbled out of the North East parishes to take a patrolman's shield. He brooked no authority. He did what he wanted to do
and he said what he wanted to say. In the end, he gave you the clearances. He's natural po-lice."

Well fuck. At least it all played out pretty naturally. Lester fights to the end, and then hands it off to Ronnie, who can barely even look at him. Levy shows once again how he puts the lev in leverage, and MarIo walks. The scene with Marlo returning to the street was perfect - I don't remember him ever scrapping before, only sitting behind his muscle. Now he's out there starting over, and has to get stabbed and listen to people canonizing Omar. Michael as Omar... a little too convenient. At least they didn't show him going back to the gym for more boxing lessons I guess. Where was Cutty by the way? Fucking your MOM that's where. Didn't miss him, but there's a loose end. Last we saw him he was trying to teach Dukie to fight. Lot of good that did. I could have done without the additional Bubbles crap too, although that was more about the other reporter doing his job right. He retraces all of Templeton's steps, and gets the story that Templeton couldn't get. Great. The rest of the Sun plot was just meh for me. I would have rather seen a little more about the Greeks. I'll enjoy the wake scene more when I watch it in the future - I was completely McNultyed out by then. Time to cancel HBO. |

They should have left Dukie where he was at the end of episode 9. That final scene was PERFECT.
Seeing him plunge a needle into his arm just so we could connect the dots from Bubbles to Dukie was a bit over the top. I'm not sure I actually buy that he would descend into drug addiction so quickly. Have we even seen him drink a beer on the show, let alone use drugs? Despite some minor complaints, it was a pretty good finale. Not quite as good as Six Feet Under, but better than The Sopranos. Let's see if The Shield can raise the bar even further. Too bad we have to wait 6 months to find out. |

Oh yeah - I loved the return of the security cam, too. And of course Cheese's twitching fingers. |

Dukie shooting up wasn't rushed (nor unrealistic - look at his family. One can overcome their family given the right environment and nurturing, neither of
which are to be found on the corner). That was in the "future" montage. The scamming of Prezbo was really quick, but if that's the only way the
writers could work Prez in, I've got no problems. They are working with only 10.5 episodes. There's no fabled "movies" coming out to wrap
this up.
One of the important factors of Bubbles's addiction was the fact that it caused him to betray loved ones, so it was fitting that we saw Dukie scam the last person he could go to. |

They should have left Dukie where he was at the end of episode 9. That final scene was PERFECT. I wish they ended both Dukie and Michael's stories at episode 9. Their last scene was powerful and pretty much spelled out their fate. The stuff in the finale was overkill and lessened the emotional impact of the previous episode. They should've worked in the Prez cameo in an earlier episode. Maybe around the time he talked to Cutty and Poot. I don't know if it was heavy-handed or just seemed that way, but come on - bubbles on his shirt, too? Give us a little credit. Yeah, they really put the b in subtle. |

I'm going to wait a couple days to let the finale sink in before commenting. But I found it mediocre.
If I had to rank the seaons: 1 Season Four 2 Season Three -its really these two seasons that cement The Wire's reputation as the best TV show ever made. Hmm, what a surprise, one of the seasons is almost completely devoid of McNulty..... 3 Season One 4 Season Two - I actually really love season two, but its a bit jarring. Love or hate the dock plotlines, it established the concept that The Wire would be about ALL of Baltimore, not just the cops-vs-drug sellers/addicts 5 Season Five - by far the worst, which by the worst, I mean, still better than anything on TV. The newsroom, the hoax, and too much McNulty |

I'd probably rank them
Season 4 Season 3 Season 1 Season 5 Season 2 I think just about everybody agrees season 4 is the best. Season 3 was kinda weird for me. When watching it, I was a little let down by it, but in retrospect it really holds up. Season 3 & 4 are probably the two most closely linked seasons of the show, its almost like a part 1 and 2. While season 2 is the "worst" its still pretty much better than any season of any other show. |

I'd rank them:
Season 4 Season 1 Season 5 Season 3 Season 2 And to echo the sentiment of the people above, even season 2 was leap years ahead of most other shows, so it's basically the "worst" season of the "best" show. |

I guess I'd rank them like this:
1) Season 4 -- the pinnacle of television as far as I'm concerned. 2) Season 1 3) Season 3 4) Season 5 5) Season 2 But it's almost pointless to rank individual seasons. This show is one season consisting of 60 episodes. And taken as a whole, probably the finest achievement in the history of scripted television. Now I'm just hoping they will come out with a complete series DVD set at some point in the near future. I've been holding off on buying the individual seasons for that very reason. |

Me too, i've been waiting for the whole series box set but i doubt its gonna come. It'd be just too big, i'll just wait for season 5 on dvd, then
buy all 5 from amazon at once.
