Anyone else catch the premiere from the torrents yet? It was definitely one of the shows I was most looking forward to this season, and I was quite impressed with the finished product. Not at all what I was expecting given the premise, but I can't say that's a bad thing.

I'm not too sure I like the other bus story, it seems just thrown into the mix to create unecessary suspense (I really think the premise has enough meat on its own), but I'll give it a chance to play out. It really is a shame this show is up against Lost, because my heart almost certainly lies there.

Never mind, I'm a moron - it's on at 8pm on CBS and ABC has apparently moved Lost to 9pm, so they won't be conflicting. Phew.

I watched the premiere. I would say it's the best premiere for TV drama since Lost. The storyline was actually captivating, there were many characters whose stories can be developed later on. Excellent premise. I mean the idea of nuclear bombs being dropped on US soil should captivate a lot of viewers. Excellent choice of songs as well. Relatively unknown cast though. Nevertheless, I would definitely catch this show when it airs.

One point I didn't really like: the opening title screams like a 'horror' movie. I didn't read the synopsis before watching and for a few minutes, I thought this would be a horror show and kinda expected a mad redneck to jump out with a chainsaw... But it turned out to be a MUCH better show than I thought it would be.

Sounds promising. Saw the commercial during Rockstar last night. Glad it's not up against Lost.

Jericho totally seems to be in the spirit of "The Day After", an early-80's TV movie (set in Kansas!) that touched on a real moment in the national mood, as manifested in the nuclear freeze movement. Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. The Reagan Administration wanted to put nuclear-armed cruise missiles into Europe to counteract Soviet weaponry. Remember Dr. Helen Caldicott? "The Fate of the Earth" by Jonathan Schell? Monsignor Bruce Kent?

I know I'm showing my age here.

They're not foraging among irradiated fields, so it's apparently not global thermonuclear war in the 1980's doomsday scenario sense. Edirted b/c I just read a synopsis of the pilot, explaining that not just Denver and Atlanta were targeted.

I'm old enough to remember The Day After, too, and have it on DVD.

I certainly got the impression that by showing that Atlanta had been bombed as well, it was to be understood that this was an all out attack. I mean, who would attack Denver and Atlanta and not Washington or New York?

Yup, JRobbed, the articles are saying lots more than just those two cities were hit.

My understanding (not unlike the computer's tome at the end of WarGames) was that if too many cities were hit, a global nuclear winter would result, so there wouldn't be a nuclear winner.

The synopsis said that 'most of North America were destroyed'. I think they could just nuke a few of the biggest cities, and then send their military troops over for an invasion. It'll likely take a while before they reach Kansas which is great for the show.

Lost comes on at the same time where I live, but hey no worry, I know if I miss Lost they will just show it again, and again, and again in rerun.

If Jericho does not follow lost and just be a series of reruns, it could definitely steal the thunder and fans from Lost.

Wow. I think I'm getting too easy on shows because I like everything I see lately - but I thought it was FANTASTIC. Gripping from the static beginning to the creepy-ass ending.

There were a couple moments of over-cheese involving the Mayor and a pep talk - but other than that it was great.

I felt like I was watching a movie. When it ended (why is it only 38 minutes long?) I was pissed. My friend watched it and he said "next episode please!". :lbf

The characters are clear and very well drawn for such a huge ensemble. There is a scene on a schoolbus that is more riveting than most action films.

However, I don't see how this can be stretched out into a series. I'm sure I'll find out.

I notice people saying that this will be on Wednesdays. At the end of the pilot it says Mondays this fall. Have they changed that or am I confused?

I'll stick with it for sure, even though with all going on in the world it is a little hard to watch.

PS: I thought the music was great too (what was the opening song?) but from my experience with leaked pilots, the good music is usually gone by the time it airs.
