The gay man was the one who came up with the guy on the hammock relaxing in the Lucky Strike sketch.

When they were at the club, one of the girls remarked (excitedly) that there were a lot of men in the club and how much she liked it or something like that and the gay man (who's also Italian, according to the character) said something like "I know where you're coming from." I'm not sure if it was too subtle or not subtle enough, but I smirked anyway.

This show is fantastic.. but I would like it a little "rawer"... as in showing more naked people...
The gyno scence was hysterical... with the lecture about being the "village bike" Christ I hadn't heard that expression since my mother died... And the closet queen.. there should be stories that address that to really ad to the dimension.. I keep thinking of Dennis Quaid in that movie with Julianne Moore going down the dark alley to the gay bar. But what the fuck..why is the virgin broad doing Conor.. christ that kid is a pasty fat fuck and clearly a FREAK so again let's go dark and see what that is about.. S&M?? I might be in love with the ad man... I want to be his hot mistress... The racial/ethnic/sexual stereotypes are so perfect and really goes to show that not much has really changed.. except we smoke less.. christ these guys smoke while brushing their teeth. |

Quote: Sigh. Television that has layers. Those are the shows that usually get axed in the first season. I hope those good ratings from the first episode hold. |

Do they repeat it during the week?

Isn't that the first rule of cable series? Repeat, repeat, REPEAT!
I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to the 2nd episode, and here I thought MEADOWLANDS was THE new summer series. FX's DAMAGES and Showtime's CALIFORNICATION may change things up again though. |

It's a well written and acted show. Though I have questions as to why that secretary would fuck the junior executive? I'm lacking the proper motivation considering that bad reputations back then could actually cause much damage. I understand her going there with her boss, but with the other guy? I hope they explore the gay guy storyline, though I really wish he were more attractive though. And I lvoe the fact that he's a total flamer and people just think that's fabulous. Nobody questions him. I also need to know more about the big kahuna's mistress. And it seems he's going to go there with the Jewish tycoon too. I wonder in what season we'll actually see a colored person. It amazes me how open everyone is with the racism and bigotry, and somehow I prefer that in your face form rather than behind closed doors the way it's become.

Quote: I could be wrong, but I think it's supposed to be a question at this point. I suspect later episodes will reveal more about her character. I liked the complexity - on one hand this she's this seeming innocent, on the other . . . a budding nympho? |

spot on crush, i agree.
weiner is fucking with our heads. but peggy must watch out. "a budding nympho?" if so, doctor spaceman will discontinue her "pills". you know, the magic pills that let you get a prescription for birth control and let you fuck a junior executive on the same day. the pills he, and he alone, has the power to dispense or discontinue. but this is... 1960... |

I know that's their promo line, but I was kind of partial to your earlier suggestion. I'm open, I'll switch it up.

For those of you who missed the first episode (I suspect there may be one or two of you out there), it's being repeated TWICE tonight on AMC.
It's a bold but subtle, ironic & intriguing show . . . I feel a bit like a "mad man" advertising a show about advertising, but wth. |
