Isn't this the same premise as ______ House on PBS? Just with kids?
That stuff was interesting and there were no competitions or eliminations. |

I wonder if the intro is going to be that "We're the kids in America" song...

After watching the preview, I am going to have to at least watch the first episode of this train wreck, so much crying and crap it is crazy.

I just watched the preview. I'm such a sucker - the $20,000 thing is totally going to get me to watch.

It will either be really good or horribly exploititive. There's only so far you can go with kids.

Hopefully those cute little adolescents the show attracts will be sticking around for another kid friendly show...Criminal Minds.

It's not real though because the kids will never be left alone. There will be adults there to supervise so it's really not even true to the premise.

a trainwreck indeed but it still has more potential than a season of amazing race mactors.

I'm looking forward to this show even though I am very sad it is taking TARs spot. CBS must be excited with the outcome since they are already casting for Kid Nation 2. Since parents usually watch what their kids want at that time I expect it to be a big success.

Quote: In theory, they'll be running the town. The kids are divided onto four color-named teams. Each week there will be a challenge to determine their "job" and paycheck: laborers, cooks, merchants, and upper class (whom I'm guessing won't actually have to work). The merchants will be running a general store (which appears to have all the candy you could want and then some) and a saloon that sells root beer. Each week, there will be a "town hall meeting." The meeting starts with anyone who wants to leave (because of homesickness or whatever; no one is booted off the show) announcing that they want to go, and then at the end of the meeting the town council (one kid from each team) picks one kid to win a literal gold star worth $20k for his/her efforts. At the end, those that stay get something extra. I'll watch an episode or two. It looked pretty good in the web promo. |
