The only funny bit was when they were acting like Jemaine was dead and reminiscing about how he always says "what?"
or as Murray put it "He was always questioning things".
Of course you have to hear it to get the dryness.

Last nights was by far, the worst episode I've seen so far. I did chuckle out loud a few times,, but it wasn't as good as episodes 1 & 2. I'll keep watching since nothing else is on at 10:30 on Sunday nights.

Except my BF called the Hiphopapotamus when Bret said he was the Rhymenocerous.
But I still love them. |

These guys are pretty funny. I thought that robot song in the first episode was hilarious...

They seem to have taken a few notes from Sasha Baren Cohen (Ali G more than Borat), and while some of the humor is delightfully loopy, the episodes drag in places. I think they need to bring in someone to bump up their plots so that their funnier moments & lines have a stronger context.
Like the stalker girl character, though. |

Is there a place to download their songs in mp3 or wav format? I checked HBO's site and they have a few video clips of the songs. Most of the the time when the song first comes on I'm not digging it but by the end I'm singing along with them.
I also loved the random black woman on the bridge during that song. |

Quote: I'm totaly the same way...the next day I can't get their stupid songs out of my head, "Who likes boom..." There appear to be more vidios on this show than I have seen on MTV in the last 20 years. Finally, the do remind me of Spinal Tap & it makes me wonder hwy nobody has thought of it earlier. Anyway, can't wait for Sunday. |

I just can't believe what I'm reading. These guys are awful. They suck in the worst possible way. Their one good song (the robot song) was good - for sure. But the rest were terrible and the show is only funny in spots.
These guys need to make up their minds. Are they singer/songwriters? Or are they comedians? Choose one and leave the rest of us alone. Please. |

Sense of humor is subjective. Either you like their brand of comedy or you don't. I'm not a fan of traditional sitcoms According to Jim makes me hurl and I hate Raymond.
Anyway, you can download a bunch of their stand up routines and songs at Limewire. |

They are singers/writers that do comedy. This isn't anything new. Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, The Smothers Brothers, Spike Jones, Weird Al, etc.
Why does it have to be a choice? |

LoveJonze have you heard that 6 part radio show they did? That was just as funny as the television show, most of the same plotlines too. I recommend you all download it.

I think I heard it on line, because - yeah - some of the songs have shown up on the show.

typically i think this show is hilarious, but this past episode was pretty weak. Shame to have the one guy quit the band twice in two weeks. Better not become a regular thing.

Definitely the first notably sub-par installment. Really dug the "If That's What You're Into" song though.

this show cracks my shit up.
my problem is that i tivo this and hold onto it until friday or so because that's the first i can see it, so i can't discuss it with y'all. the music videos are the best (no, maybe the stalker chick "stalking" with her husband driving.) the last one i saw... band meeting (i love those fucking meetings). rap names. then... "item 2a. gig." "oh, a gig." "why?" "why?" "be more constructive with your feedback." mother flippin. these fuckers slay me. as a wise poster said above, humor is subjective. the kiwi's own me... oh and... "he may be dead." "he maybe did what?" "he may be dead." "yeah i know, but what did he maybe do?" "he may be dead." "maybe he did, maybe he didn't. what did he maybe do? "he may be dead." "are you guys fucking with me?" "i killed a monkey once..." |

The third episode is funnier on a second viewing.
I'm the motherflipper! The aforementioned "who's on first" spoof During Jemaine's rap - at first acting like he ran out of rhymes Maybe the Yoko episode will be funnier the second time I watch it too. Their songs are very memorable though, they stay in your head. |
