Sayid(The Hot ass Iraqi)- The only one with a brain |
Lead | |
|
Why couldn't Jack see what Michael is doing. I swear (sorry Felicia) that Jack is the dumbest one out there. Once Michael said only 5 can go a lightbulb should of went off in his head. I hope Jack gets a nice surprise when him and his goonies go and find the others.

It was very weird coming from Jack. It seems Jack is never trusting of *anyone* on the island--he's the one always accusing people of stuff and looking down at them with his (sometimes) sanctimonious eyes.
Yet, he seems to have trusted Michael unconditionally and we're not given a clear reason why. That said, he also listened to Sayid when Sayid was suspicious--so he's not entirely an idiot. |

I guess it can go either way but mostly a Sayid topic. Smartest Lostie ever! Untill he does something stupid like they all do.

No apologies needed, my Sunshine.
Of course I don't agree though. How many times do I have to say this? Jack has no reason to be suspicious of Michael. Michael behaved erratically the last time, remember? He was all hyped up, knocked Locke's ass out and took off with a gun. If Michael doesn't seem "all there", it's not the first time. Jack ain't a criminal, a con man, a cop, an interrogator, or a mofo weird ass psychic (like Eko).. he's just a doctor SO yeah he'd be the last one to believe one of his own would kill AL and Libby and lead them into a trap. Wtf? Kate and Hurley don't seem suspicious of Michael either. Hurley's grieving of course, but.. Yeah, Jack's trust level is low, but he's always had a soft spot for Michael. Maybe it's the father/son thing? How many characters mentioned Michael in his absence or wanted to go looking for him? One. Jack. Not even his best buddy Jin seemed concerned. He let Sun pussywhip him back into the tent. Anyway, enuff said. Isn't this a Sayid thread anyway? Sing his praises and stuff. Talk about his nice.. big... brain. Now I'm going to bash Charlie, Sunshine! Payback's a bitch! (ehh not really, I like Charlie) |

Why is Jack the Leader anyway? He's a good doctor but he has no experience in hunting, tracking, warfare, handling a gun... basically he has no skillz. So why does he get to call the shots on all their little expeditions? Shouldn't he be staying near the camp--he's the only doctor.

Quote: Jack is the leader for two reasons: 1) Jack took the leadership role right after the crash. Look at the pilot again and see how Jack was the only one who kept his head and immediately began taking charge of the situation while everybody else was in shock. I read this and think it applies: "The fastest way to rally the people behind you is to loose a rabid lion among them. Then, when their bowels have turned to water and they are panicking you say 'I'll deal with it' and slay the lion. Then you give another order and they will follow it- for who better to lead than the one who slayed the lion?" 2) Nobody else seems to be a "natural leader" do they? Cmon, you think everybody is going to follow Charlie? Sayid? Sawyer? The only person whose really stood up and tried to rally everybody together is Bernard-and he spent the first two months on the other side of the island and failed to rally them anyway because of his attitude. Nope, everybody seems to have their own agenda and are more focused on personal goals/quests than on working as a unit. |

I think the only reason people didn't immediately recognize Sayid's leadership skills is unfortunately because of his nationality. And they addressed this I think in the pilot...with Sawyer immediately jumping to conclusions that the plane had been brought down by a terrorist bomb.
But the beauty of this show is that as time went by...we the viewers and also the Losties learned what a competent and resourceful guy he is. Jack just jumped out as the natural leader because of the beginning circumstances. They needed a doctor first and foremost. :)Peggy |

A Sayid thread...yippie! Besides his incredible hot ass, Sayid does seem to have the most brains...or maybe the most suspicious mind. How I love his brains...and um...the rest of him is delicious too.
Experience has made him such a suspicious man, which is good, because the rest of the Losties can be so dang gullible. I thought it was so awesome he thought to dig up faux-Henry's faux wife's grave to check the man's story. Now THAT is a thorough mind at work. If they put him charge of ambushing the Others next week, I bet he hands them their asses. |

Sunshine - You perv! I like that.
Sayid's a smart dude, but I don't think he wants to lead. I have THE answer. The writers needed Jack to blinded by Michael so Sayid could deliver the line about Michael being "compromised". Didn't that sound sexy? ;) Quote: Did you see him shoot the rope? |

I think Sayid and Jack will be setting up a plan that night, as Sayid implied when talking to Jack en route to the funeral. It will almost certainly entail Sayid following the group from a discreet distance. Maybe he takes the boat out, spots them from afar, lands way ahead of them, camoflages the boat, then follows them after he hides until they pass by.
I am VERY glad that Jack has someone like Sayid around! James put it best when he told Michael that it might be a good idea, if they were going to war, to have someone with them who'd actually fought in one! Go, Sayid! Thwart The Others' nefarious plot! |
