This thread is for discussion of those crazy others. Some questions to consider: 1. How many groups of Others are there? (Henry indicated there were more than one, by saying "WE'RE the Good Guys".) 2. What's the deal with kidnapping children? 3. Do they believe in the sickness? If not, why the vaccines for Claire? 4. Why the fake beard/fake clothes, etc?

Everyone we've seen is working the faux primitive angle and has/had connections with Ethan and Goodwin. Not sure why other "Others" are even being considered anymore.

Being the "good guys" implies that there are "bad guys" lurking about. On the Island? Off it? I don't know how much of that I personally swallow. But the whole "good guys" thing leaves the possibility of another, "bad" Other group open. . .for the moment, anyway.

It always seemed to me the idea of other "Others" came from the various people we've seen on the island (Ethan, barefoots, Boatbillies, etc.). I think we're now sure they're all in the same group.

There is someone/something else on that Island besides these two groups and Danielle. Wonder if we'll find out ANYTHING about who/what that is in Season 3? Probably not, but hope reigns eternal!

But They just had all those costumes and beards and glues and village-building materials just in case someone else showed up on the Island (that was protected by an EM barrier)? Sure better get some explanation of all this when we get The Others' story next season!

Goodwin was a tailie spy on a different side of the island. Ethan worked with FauxHG. FauxHG knew Goodwin and knew that Eko killed two of his people. It wouldn't make sense that they wouldn't also know the barefoot dirty folks hanging out in between. That's the one thing that still puzzles me. I understand the Others were trying to look rough on purpose. They looked like hillbillies, but not like homeless people. The Others that Jin and Eko encountered wore tattered clothes, were mud splattered, dirty and barefoot. Did FauxHG come out barefoot at the end of the finale to emphasize the point that they are all one group? (if not to the Losties, to the viewers?)

So for a short while at least...the island had inhabitants doing various experiments. Now then,did the subjects learn they were being used and deceived and some sort of rebellion took place? Possibly. All we know now...is that the stations all appear to be deserted. The Others ( for whatever reason) still remain...but where they make their home...we luckily seem to get to know that, next season. I think Henry and Co. see themselves as fighting some sort of foe (bad guys). ( since he referenced who they are as being the good guys) There may only be one group on the island....but, The Others definitely are up against something...only who knows where they exist. ( possibly the neighboring island that the Pala ferry once serviced? or something out in the world? and that is why they feel the need to hide on an island that is invisable to the rest of the world?) Penny finding the island may not be a good thing in the long run. Was she truly looking for her lost love Desmond? or was she a Widmore doing her job, which might be considered bad byThe Others? :)Peggy

A chosen few know EVERYTHING about Dharma. Then there's some folks that have just enough information to make them dangerous...the third caste is completely clueless. They're just folks that ended up on the island one way or another and to them, the Others are their saviours. The know-it-alls keep the other Others in the dark because knowledge is power. Either they are former Dharma employees or perhaps their first test subjects. Whatever. These folks are NOT good, but the ones out of the loop probably are.

We saw them come to the beach to drag off the tailies after they crashed. We saw Eko kill one on said beach. We saw one get shot on the finale. We saw the feet of a few as Jin & Eko hid in the jungle. We saw Zeke at the campfire with Kate in the hood. None of this was during flashbacks.

I go with the "Che Guevara" theory that there is a serious schism between the others and it's directly related to the "incident" that happened in the late eighties. The weird behaviour of them all when the button wasn't pushed seems to lead of some kind of erasure of past and present. I'm still so disturbed by Walt's indifference to the Losties obvious distress.

They were, or are, a part of Dharma. We're still unsure when other stations were abandoned except swan which apparently never got abandoned.
