There are plenty of squeaky clean YA fantasies out there for them who don't like that sort of thing, I do get occasional letters from readers who object to the sexual content in the books... but oddly enough, no one seems to object to the violence. It is a sad commentary on American society that there are people who will be outraged by a description of a penis entering a vagina, but not troubled at all by a description of an axe entering a head.

I am no expert though, and only try to post in this thread very carefully, because it's so easy to accidentally spoil someone, even implying that you may see someone in a future season is a spoiler really. Oh, and I am not opposed at all to the sex, and though I do wish there was less violence, that's the nature of this world, so suck it up. I DO think the over-use of Roz for "sexposition" is annoying though, and especially that scene in season one with Littlefinger spilling his guts to her and the whores. I just thought it was bullshit and stupid, and would have felt that way even if they were all fully clothed and having tea in a restaurant. I get that they have to condense a lot of words into 10 episodes, simply question the way they did that, because I found it completely unrealistic and also out of character. Sex happens, but only when it's relevant to the story or character development. Hell, the whole story is motivated by an incestuous sexual relationship. GRRM handled it exactly right in the books. But when a pervert like me rolls his eyes at the obligatory sex scenes HBO forces into the story, then it's too much. Sorry, but the whole "OMG, it's cable! We can show boobies!" lost its novelty about 20 years ago. ASOIAF is a great story; it doesn't need to insert gratuitous titillation in order to get viewers.
