i agree, for the first time i actually liked sawyer. and i think they are setting him up to be the new leader, or the new jack. they never have a storyline that is too random or far from the plot, and i think there was signifigance to hurley telling sawyer he was the leader while jack was gone. no one trusts jack anymore, and now sawyer has the upper hand

This epsiode was Josh's showcase. He really showed what a range he has. This ep had some of the best drama of the series. After having seen it...I can't blame James for killing Cooper. Hearing that letter written by that little boy, just broke my heart. And his carrying that letter all those years. Very emotional stuff.

I actually "felt" the anger and sadness in Sawyer. I was angry and sad at the same time. If an actor can make you feel that way...then fuck...they deserve all the money they get paid.

He's been incredible this season. That man has the most intense stare and then can break your heart in the next scene.

In an Entertainment Weekly article, Josh Holloway said shooting this episode's emotionally-draining scenes took a toll. "Dude, it was intense filming that s---," he says. "It wore me out."

When was his acting ever bad? I always thought he acted exactly the way he should, given his character. This ep, some more was required and he delivered. I wasn't surprised.

I don't know about that, Key. They always wrote him pretty much as smark alecky con man with a clever penchant for nick names. Last nite was waaaaaaay different.

I hear ya, alexineruby (and I'm really not usually an argumentative prick, which is how I realize I'm sounding tonight), but that goes back to writing vs. acting. Sure, Josh has been required to do mostly just that so far, but he was damn good at it. Last night he was required to do more, and he delivered.
I'm also thinking of his conman flashbacks, where he wasn't just chucking out one-liners. The one with Cassidy (if I'm remembering correctly) comes immediately to mind. At the end of that ep when he convinces her in a mock-panic to run away and wait for him, then you realize he double-crossed both her AND his partner? I thought he was great throughout that whole episode. |
