Why Hasn't Richard Aged At All? Why is He in Juliet's FB? |

I guess we haven't discussed much about Richard either, but we'll probably get a flashback for him next season I'm assuming. Why hasn't he aged at all since Ben was a Kid? Assuming ben is in his 40s, that means Richard has been alive for at least over 70 years on the island?!? And if Richard was a native of the island, then how the hell is he in Juliet's flashback.. So he travelled as an other "OTHER" to the real world to meet with Juliet and then travelled back to the island after meeting with Juliet??? The first time he showed up was in Juliet's 1st flashback. And if he's never left the island before, how did he so quickly adapt to the real world when meeting up with Juliet?

Richard's about to leave the Island again, to act in a CBS nighttime soap opera.

I am just going to throw out a theory and await the flaming, but this theory seems too simple.
Is it possible young Ben met Richard's father in the jungle that day? Richard Sr. then had a kid (who looks just like his father) about 30 years ago who grew-up to be the Richard we know today? Since today's Richard has been off the island, is it fair to assume his father could also have left the island to have a kid so the mother would not die like all the others? Just hypothesizing an easy solution instead of the island fountain-of-youth-but-not-for-Ben theories. |

I'm pretty sure he has aged. When he was younger, his hair was longer. Now it's short.
They used the same actor, duh. Might as well ask why Jack didn't age in his Flash Forward. Hey, they gave him a beard = he's aged. Just like Richard's shorter hair = he's aged. |

Well, yeah--but FF Jack is only a couple of years older than he is now. The beard was to show how scruffy and unkempt and crazy he'd become, not to indicate age.
The haircut-as-ager thing rarely works. Balding someone, yes. Cutting hair, no. They could've been "youthing" Richard with the long hair thing, though. OR it could be that Richard hasn't aged. How old Richard REALLY is, that's yet another LOST mystery. (I think the 1.5 millionth, but I've kinda lost count! |

They balded Ben. And Locke. Balding Richard too would have been kinda one-trick of them. Not every guy balds.
Quote:Well, that hasn't been confirmed, right. Just because they used a current LA TIMES to make a prop newspaper with doesn't convince me. Somewhere else I saw it indicated that Flash Forward happened in 2010 (to time with the actual airdates of the last Season?), which would make him 6 years older. Regardingless, I think he's aged. He's not part of Dharma, who actually was working on a LEP. Now someone from that group, maybe. Hey, now that I think of it. Cooper hasn't aged either. And he's not bald! |

I'll even go further and say I look pretty much the same as I did 15 years ago, and most likely will for another 15.

I think the question to ask is, why Ben accepts it -with apparently no questions asked. Peeps, you are missing the mark here.
edited to add Ben's fascination with Locke's ability to heal. |

But 30 years ages a person noticeably. Richard looks the same as he did 30 years ago, just with shorter hair.

Right. Same actor. In this case, shorter hair = aging.
Like Locke and Ben's balding. In all three cases, they added hair to make them younger. |

So are we to believe Richard is in his 60's now? Using the same actor is fine, but if they want us to believe he's aged...they need to do a better job.

Is that how old you guys think Richard is?
Oh. Maybe it's a "we're supposed to believe Richard was 18 when he first met Ben?" kinda question. |

If Richard went from about 20ish to 40ish, he might still appear fairly young. When I was in my late 30s, many people, when they first met me, would assume I was in my early 20s.
