Walt's Appearance - Was That Really Him Or Just The Island? |
Lead | |
|
Discuss here. Was that really Walt in the S3 finale, or once again was it another Island Manifestation similar to what we have seen in the past?

I think it was Walt, but they are going to do something freaky with the timeline in playing that out to explain him looking waaaaay older.

I don't think they have to anything freaky to the timeline to explain his growth spurt other than to say, "Time passed. He grew because he's a kid. k thnx bye."

Well, we know he controls things with his mind... could he have invisioned himself on the island and it actually happened... who knows.

confirming that nearly everyone who "sees" someone, it usually leads to their death. Shannon with walt, eko with brother. Jack with his dad gets led to a cliff and does almost die, but locke is the opposite and actually recieves help from seeing boone and walt...

I think it's just foreshadowing Walt's return to the show... Almost like a heads up of trying to remember everything we know about him.

The "Island" or someone, controls an awesome hologram and can project whatever they want at any time.
Either that or the water is spiked with some hallucinogen. |

The previous Walt appearances I thought were him, since he does have some type of power thus far unexplored on the show, but when we found out the smoke monster can take seemingly take other forms now I am not too sure.

Quote: Umm, do kids normally age two or three years in 90 days? Walt's got Harry Potter syndrome. They will do something freaky to the timeline to explain his growth. |

If that was Walt, I hope they clarify during S4 whats happened since with him and Michael...but I am also thinking it was another island manifestation or perhaps the work of Jacob. If it actually IS Walt, then where is Michael...and how would he know Locke could walk when he was in the pit? Locke also was instrcuted by "Walt" about Naomi and the satellite phone and where to stop the Losties (i.e. the radio tower). Walt wouldn't know this, but the island would. I still hope we find out about why Walt was so "special" and where they went after S2.

I think you guys are reading too much into Walts appearance. Obviously, he looked like that because he's older in real life, but it seemed to me like they intentionally shot him from above and below angles to try to disguise his growth. I would be very surprised if it gets mentioned at all.

I agree, Cindi, reading a little too much into it.

It'll be nice, though, if/when he's in an FF, and can be his own age! (Bet it'll be a relief to Malcom, too!)

Walt has a special connection to the island which somehow enhances whatever power it is he has. Part of that power, apparently, is the ability to be two places at once. Ergo, his earlier appearance to Shannon.

I would say that since the island can age uteruses rapidly, I guess it can age children rapidly, also.

It didn't age Alex rapidly.
Aaron is still a baby. Zack and Emma are still young kids. Unless Walt time-travels back to the Island (please, no!), I don't accept the Island making an exception for him. He's done nothing to deserve it. Walt in FFs. THAT will explain all. |

Also, don't forget that the island can seemingly halt the aging process, too (Richard Alpert). Walt can appear in "places where he shouldn't be able to." Bea Klugh told Michael about this in Season 2's episode "Three Minutes," as she asked him if he'd seen Walt while Walt was growing up outside of the country. Michael didn't answer the question, even vaguely, he just looked at her weird, and yelled that he wanted to see his son. So obviously Walt has manifested this projection ability before, which leads me to think there's absolutely no reason not to think it is Walt that got Locke out of the bone ditch. Also, he was wearing the same shirt as the last time we saw Walt, at the end of Season 2.
