I have one weird theory: The last episode of the next-to-last season will prepare for the end. Then the final season will just have 22 different alternate endings, with the last two-hour episode being the "real" ending.
Probably unlikely, but it'd be cool to see what kind of fucked-up shit we'd see in the endings. Maybe Arzt rising from the dead and blowing up shit on the island? |

I'm thinking a huge experiment with mind control:
Henry sitting in the dark, quiet, still controlling people in the outside like MICHAEL who then kills the one person that Henry was trying to kill, wanting Walt who appears to have powers already. Michael is under mind control, you watch. Its Henry controlling him. |

This is not a theory, mind you, just a little hypothesis but I believe that the writers are reading ALL of your submissions and, out of those, is evolving next season. Keep track so you can demand your $$$$ cheques for your story treatments, eh?

This is probably meaningless, but you know how if you type some #s in on your calculator and turn it upside down, it looks like a word? Like 01134 upside down is hello on a calculator. I noticed if you do that with the Lost Numbers you get ZhEZgISIBh. Unfortunately that seems to be gibberish but the words "he" and "is" are there at least. Like I said, probably meaningless.

I'm sure this has been brought up, but has anyone familiar with philosophy done anything in regard to John Locke and Rousseau? It seems to me that having two distinct philosopher names on the same show might mean something.

I rewatched the 1st 4 episodes today and came up with the following questions. It's possible these questions have been answered and I just didn't remember them so bear with me.
1. Why is Vincent even there? Wouldn't a dog be kept in the back of the plane and therefore be in the tail section? 2. Wasn't Bernard found in an airplane seat in a tree? If he was in the bathroom, how did he end up in a seat? (Perhaps they showed in a flashback that he got out of the bathroom and sat down in the back of the plane and I don't remember) 3. When Jack, Kate, and Charlie are going for the cockpit, why did Vincent just sit there in the bushes watching them? Wouldn't a normal dog go greet them? 4. Why does it seem Jack was the only one thrown really far from the plane? Perhaps he was just knocked out longer so he was the last one left but it seems weird he was pretty deep in the jungle and everyone else was at the beach. I also just found it funny Jack said to Kate, "3 days ago we all died, we should be able to start over." Perhaps the show is about 2nd chances for everyone, not sure how that ties in to reality. |

My theory is that this is the "Island of Lost Souls". In the plane crash everyone really died, but some people ended up on the Island which represents a place between Heaven and Hell. In this place, people have a last chance to resolve their character flaws that have kept them from entering Heaven.
The Others represent the Keepers of the Island. Sometimes when there is a large group killed, such as in a plane crash, some of the "Good" and some of the "Bad" get taken in with the people that need to resolve their flaws. Hence, the Others have to come and kidnap (or rescue) the good people or people that are mistakenly on the island or have resolved their flaws. Take Shannon for instance. She was bitter and insecure. She blamed others for her problems and had sex with her "brother". Not really "going to Heaven" qualities. Once she finds personal strength and starts to take responsibility and look for Walt, she is killed. Take AL. She took revenge on anyone that causes her pain. When she gives up the gun to Michael, she dies. Now, if the crazy blonde dies, my theory is crap! I believe she will live and her backstory will come out at some point. The weird creatures, such as the Polar Bears and the black dust are all Hell creatures that sometimes escape because the Island is sort of a border between Heaven and Hell. Sometimes these Hell creatures grab a "bad" person and take them to Hell. Hence, the black dust could not hurt or take Mr. Echo. The other weird creatures, such as the horse are good visions that come from Heaven. These creatures sometimes appear and comfort the good. Now the French Woman, Rouseau, has never been able to resolve her flaw. She has been on the island for years and while all the other members of her party have died, i.e., been saved or redeemed, she remains stuck in this purgatory. Her daughter, whom has been raised by the Others, has stayed with the Others to wait for her mother's redemption. That is my theory...and I'm sticking to it for at least a week! |
