I've barely laughed all season, and I loved the other seasons immensely (though the show clearly started to go downhill right at the beginning of S2).

I can remember a ton of S1 episodes that were barely funny (most of them towards the beginning of the season), and S2 had more "amazing" episodes, IMO. I never saw the dip in quality that people mentioned with the second season. Although I will agree that the third season (while it has plenty of hilarious episodes), has had a few more meh ones than I would have liked. I still think people are overreacting; it's like a show has a couple of off weeks and everyone's acting like it's been horrible for years...

There are obviously much funnier shows out there that deserve more recognition. And I still like MoFa and think it has funny moments, but a lot of the time I feel like the jokes are presented in a "haha we're being so funny" kind of way now. They've gotten very self aware and lazy. This is especially painful when the jokes are recycled or just not funny. And the new Lily is a talentless little cuntess. Poor emotionless baby Lilys fired for that swine

The Phil plotline needed one more twist- revenge in the cereal box or something- to make it at all creative. I mean the "we are gathered!" bullshit felt like some community theatre schtick.

After seeing the title, I was really hoping for a solid Claire episode like Little Bo Bleep but instead we got this weird random mix of what felt like 10 different plotlines (most of which were left hanging). I liked Walter (is that his name? the old guy) before, but he was really annoying this week and gave Phil no funny material at all. Gloria also had nothing. Jay's plot fizzled. Claire's tooth was random before it fizzled into nothing as well. I did lol for a solid few seconds at Mitch and Cam arguing in the car though. Especially when Cam got indignant about the cheese shop in the midst of the hugest faux pas ever. Also, Luke randomly being wrapped in streamers at the end <3. The Haley college thing felt like a copout though, just like they did with her losing her viriginity. Another huge missed opportunity. They could have made Claire even more petty and upset over losing then have been a great heartwarming moment where she doesn't care anymore and is elated that Haley got accepted. Or it could have been a touching moment where Haley displays some maturity in comforting Claire more about how losing didn't matter then having Claire rise to the occasion doing the same as a mother when Haley finds out she's been rejected. Being waitlisted just added nothing and took away a lot of the potential emotional impact.

There is no steam left, and in with my opinion all the gags are done with. I abandoned this show with its replacement "Bent " But that unfortunately was short lived.

Maybe have a season where we dump the two white families and add a relation to Gloria's family move in and we follow new Latin characters, then perhaps add a new Asian family who might have a relation to Lily. You can have cameo appearances with the white families but mainly the jokes are about the new families. This show just getting new jokes would be awesome.

Posts: 1044 04/13/12 01:10 PM Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I think part of the problem is that they've written themselves into a corner with the Pritchetts (Claire, Mitchell, and Jay). This past season, they've just come off as the neurotic nay-sayers, and as a result I don't really like them as characters anymore. Interestingly enough, the divide during the "Punkin Chunkin" episode reflected the flawed/non-flawed divide in the characters. I mean, it is a nice derivation from the typical sitcom "stupid husband and sane wife" stereotype, but it still doesn't make the show as enjoyable as it has in the past. If they can write the Pritchetts as a little less of a black hole in the Modern Family world, I think the show would be able to turn itself around.
