I was thinking Season 2: Australia. It's simple, it's excellent, but I'm not sure. What do you think and what has worked for you in the past?

If I wanted to get someone into Survivor, which season should I show them first?

Yeah I'd say Marquesas. I'd also say Pearl Islands but the outcast twist doesn't have the same affect on a first time viewer as it does on one
who's seen a season or two.
For the love of God, do not make them watch outback first, they will be so bored towards the end that they wont want to watch another episode ever. |

Definitely Marquesas, as its the best season of Survivor. Though I dont know if they will appreciate the overthrow of the Rotu 4 if they haven't seen the
first 3 seasons, still its the best season there is.

I find it interesting that most of you are saying Marquesas. If you read the Rank the Seasons thread, most people feel as though Marquesas is in the middle of
the pack, sometimes at the bottom. I think Marquesas is a good season, but I feel that Outback might be better to show first. I might do Outback, Marquesas,
Pearl. We'll see.
I want to hear more opinions though. |

Marquesas is my second favorite but I don't think it would work for the reason diss mentioned; the overthrow is more exciting after you've seen three
seasons of stagnant post-merge play. I would recommend any of the first three seasons--Borneo obviously is where it all begins, and overall it's the best
one, but it doesn't necessarily start off with a bang. Outback's premiere is pretty weak, but that season is packed with so many huge events that you
can forgive that and that it slows down towards the end. And Africa's the best pre-merge ever, and the most epic location. But the ending isn't very
exciting.

Always always start in order. Borneo and Australia. The only two seasons worth a repeat viewing IMO.
Besides whenever I watch the show with my generation now they always say the same damn thing. What happened to this show? It used to be so good. Its of my opinion that most people dont care about the game as much but prefer to watch for the people. The first two seasons will offer you that. And seriously fuck Pearl Islands. Its the most overrated pieve of shit survivor season ever. |

I've shown Palau to two different groups of my good friends (in the U.S. and outside of it). We've watched the whole season both times.
It's great because the storyline is insanely good, and it's almost like two seasons in one -- Survivor: Ulong and then Survivor: Koror. There's good villains too -- Kimberly "Kim" Mullen, Redneck James and Katie... and plenty of heroes -- Stephenie, Tom, Angie, Ian. You've even got Janu, and a bunch of my friends had said (and I agree) that her episode, "Exile Island", was the best of the season. Plus the location is great for a first-timer cos it's beautiful and tropical yet with interesting enough wildlife and culture, and the challenges are awesome. Plus there's so many castaways that all my friends have had different favorites so it makes it more interesting. Oh yeah and hot people too -- Jeff and Jenn. |

To me, the cream of the crop consists of Outback, Marquesas, Amazon, Pearl Islands, Vanuatu, and Gabon. Outback was terrific at the time and is still great
nostalgia, but it is too dated. Vanuatu and Gabon you kind of already have to be a fan to enjoy. I would show Marquesas, Amazon, or Pearl Islands... take your
pick.

Not Borneo. It's far too different to use as an introduction. I think we can all agree it's great, but it's more of a narrative and less of a game,
so like... if you're trying to show someone what Survivor is like, it's way too much of an outlier to give them a good idea about the other 17 seasons.

I'd say starting with Borneo is probably the best way to go and then watching them in order from there so that each twist has the impact that it should. I
say this having shown the seasons out of order to my friends..they liked them all but as I said, the twists didn't affect them as much as they should have.
I started with Palau and it hooked my friends into wanting to keep watching more seasons so i'm willing to bet that if you want a season that'll have them coming back for more then palau is a safe bet. |

If you wanna show someone a lot of Survivor, then start with the beginning and work your way up through the later seasons. If you just want a season that
exemplifies Survivor, I'd suggest Amazon because it had a unique twist to start out with (Boys vs. Girls), which a lot of seasons do, and it was a really
strong season IMO.

I'd agree with Borneo, Australia or Amazon.
Oddly, or unfortunately enough, Cook Islands lured in a couple friends of mine who would just be casual fans cause it had a feel-good storyline centered around few people =/ They continued to watch the next season though, and never saw Survivor again |

solesurvivor01 wrote: I'd have to agree with this. I'd just add as a caution that a new viewer is unlikely to connect with what you like. I once tried to introduce a friend to a rock band. He didn't really get into the songs I thought were their best but then he got into a song that I considered average. With time, he became as big a fan of the band as I was. Let your friend watch and find out for himself. Lately, a simple remark about survivor got a friend interested into watching Tocantins and she liked it. Not to the point of watching old seasons during the summer but she'll probably watch Samoa in the fall. Who knows what will happen from there. |

I'd recommend watching the six of the first seven seasons in chronological order. The one that can be skipped is Survivor Thailand because it didn't
add anything new to game dynamics and the winner is too similar to the Borneo winner.

If you want them to appreciate survivor: Amazon followed by Marquesas
If you want them to be entertained and not appreciate the game: Gabon |
