I don't! That's why I felt the need to start this thread. In my limited "sciatica flare-up" and "one gall bladder surgery" existence, those are the only two pain medications there are. Good to know I can still get high while sitting at home for three weeks watching the big brother feeds manage my discomfort safely and effectively.

That's what nurses are for. The narcotic component of Vicodin (hydrocodone) and percocet (oxycodone) will still be available. You just won't be able to get vicodin/percocet because they contain acetaminophen (tylenol). So technically, the only thing the FDA did was remove tylenol from pain meds.

Back in my pain pill days- it used to take HOURS to do what's called a "cold water extraction" from Hydros and Percs to get all that shit out. You had to crush them, soak them, chill them and then filter them. It was a pain in the ass. But if you're going to take 15-20 in one shot, it's best to remove the fillers and acteminophen. So my guess is the companies will just take the Tylenol out of the pill, saving pill heads the trouble.

And yes, you can still get Oxycontin, fentanyl and morphine- but those are Schedule 2 meds, and thus much harder to get. While percocets and Percodans are schedule 2 as well, Hydros are schedule 3, which means they don't need a DEA number, are easier to get and are normally given out pretty easily.

Oh well- glad I got clean before this shit-storm hit.

Drugs are on schedules according to how addictive they can be. An MD/NP/PA can prescribe schedule 2/3/4/5 drugs as they see fit; it isn't "more difficult". Also, hydrocodone and oxycodone are already available without acetaminophen as I give them regularly.

Then why is Marijuana a schedule 1 drug?? And yes, it is harder to get schedule 3 drugs unless you have had some kind of surgery or major pain like back issues. That's why they need a DEA number- they are more tightly controlled.
