I kinda like those willies. At least, these days I have something that helps me get rid of them... my kids. I think about them at least still clicking along after my thought is thought, my last neuron fires, and my brain has shut down for good.

But then I think about their deaths, and their non-existence, and feel a sadness, but no willies. And then I think about everyone who's ever lived and ever will live entering non-existence, humanity gone, the Earth being a dead rock, the rest of the universe clicking along as if people never existed, much less me and my family.

And then I think about the universe ending in a crunch or entropy soup, so that nothing humanity did is recorded, as if it didn't matter, as if it didn't happen. And I wonder how many other universes have come and gone similarly, that no one recalls or misses.

We get this tiny little sliver of existence, to experience and to do what we can, before we are summarily snuffed out like an ant under one's shoe. "That's life", I think.

At least it beats immortality. Shit, what a chore that would be.
