I remember in one of the movies (PoA maybe?) they gave alot of Ron's lines in the book to Hermione in the movie, pissed me off right good.

Ok.
Now change the title of this thread to DISCUSSION instead of anticipation. |

wouldn't that mean that Potter has a two-day ADVANTAGE over the others? Not in terms of the opening weekend. Weekends only count Fri-Sat-Sun no matter when in the week the film opens. Since I saw it on Wednesday, my ticket doesn't count toward the weekend. Had it opened on Friday I would have seen it then, so in that respect it is kinda silly to open a film in the middle of the week. |

My grown daughter and I went to see the movie today. Including us, there were 7 people in the theater. We liked the movie a lot. Kelly just finished reading
the book a couple of days ago and she said they changed or left out quite a lot. This is the only book in the series I've only read once, when it first
came out. So I didn't remember every detail, but most of the high points. Really looking forward to the last two movies.

To me, this seemed really faithful to the book--almost every scene came from there.
I am surprised that this movie hit so well with the non-HP crowd. They jump from scene to scene and the main storyline (the mystery of the half blood prince) is hardly developed. Things just happen in the film--Harry impales Draco with a spell and suffers no on-screen consequences whatsoever. Ginny is all of a sudden one of the gang with not explanation whatsoever. Snape ain't gonna be an Oscar nominee for this one--he's still barely in it. The best part of the movie is that there is very little Hagrid! The girl who plays Pansy Parkinson has grown up to really look like an evil bitch! WTF at them recasting Katie Bell! The poor actress stays in the background for the first 5 movies and gets recast for her one big scene in the entire series! |

It's got to be. That part was so integral to DH. There was so much stuff in DH, two movies is an absolute must. No way they're leaving the Snape/Lily backstory out. Hell, it even gave Petunia's character a lot more depth. |

I just went through DH and found two problems with the narrative, and these are complete spoilers for the few of you who don't read the books.
- There's no natural place to divide the story in half and leave audiences satisfied with part 1. I'm thinking they'll have to invent some big dramatic fight scene, either at Godric's Hollow or the Lovegood house. They can either end part 1 in despair with Ron gone or on a positive note with Ron returning and Harry getting the sword. - The sequence of the last few chapters isn't right for a movie at all. Voldie gives them an ultimatum. They say no, and there's a big battle. The battle ends and Voldie gives them ANOTHER ultimatum. Then Harry goes and gets Snape's memory and goes all the way back to the castle to watch it. Then he goes into the forest and gets AK'ed. Then he has a nice chat with Dumbledore. Then Voldie brings him back to the castle, laughs a lot, and then there's ANOTHER big battle. Battle/Memory/Limbo/Battle. That works fine for the book, but it would make a pretty disjointed movie; the big problem is Snape's memory. I think they're gonna have to find a way to make it Memory/Battle/Limbo/Battle. Or I'm thinking the first battle, the one where all the supporting characters die, could be pared down or removed entirely, so that Voldie shows up after Harry destroys the last non-Nagini horcrux, gives them just one ultimatum, and Harry sneaks out and gets the memory and goes into the forest, and the big battle starts after Voldie brings him back and he revives and sneaks away. |

Antithesys wrote: I agree with the latter very much. While reading the book, I, too, wondered why in the midst of this big battle, Harry managed to find the time to look at Snape's memory. For your first part, I also agree that there's no natural place for the split. Why? Deathly Hallows is all about finding the Horcruxes. They made it clear in the 6th movie that there are still 5 out there. HOWEVER, for Part I, they'll only destroy ONE out of the FIVE. That seems imbalanced and gives another, "WTF nothing really happened" feel. And the split is actually confirmed: |
