I'm impressed they managed to keep it a secret so far.... Yeah, we knew. There were a few sites that leaked this. And we knew his mom, Eloise would shoot him. It was still shocking to see happen though. eta: Not a spoiler anymore since we've seen it.

Must be caused by the incident. Maybe it would have been more productive for Daniel to come up with an automated way of pushing the button rather than trying to destroy the source.

Right Felicia. She didn't know she shot her son which made her sympathetic at that moment. But she sent him there knowing it would happen. I'm confused. The real world doesn't disappear, The island doesn't become rubble. And people in the hatch are not even killed, or maybe get resurrected. I thought we'd get more answers about the incident or what's really happening. Maybe next week??? Ha!

Back when Desmond popped back in time Eloise was very certain that things could not be changed - even though she had tried. When the swan hatch did blow up it was cos Desmond used the failsafe key which apparently released the energy in a safe manner So why couldn't dear ole mum tell junior not to crash the camp waving a gun around? Why did someone need to press the button for 20 years? If there was a safe way of disspating the energy why not do it right away? Why leave some sucker in there to poooosh the button and never be able to get more than 108 minutes of sleep at a time? Other than it being important for 815 to eventually crash by having Desmond mess up the button pushing that one time I don't see any reason for the button. Never have, never will. Yet if someone would have made a mechanical contraption to press the button automatically Desmond wouldn't have been in the hatch when Daniel banged on the hatch back door. I need a beer.
