There are some surface similarities, but people who liked the Mole wouldn't necessarily like this.

The mole was more "player vs. player," while The Phone is closer to "Player vs. Environment."

Additionally, the Phone is more action oriented, while the Mole tended to have a more cerebral game at it's core.

But just judging from the way the show is edited, "The Phone" is certainly... meaner... than The Mole. The Mole kids about "executions" - but they never actually showed people getting killed. The Mole was all about forming friendships and the betrayal of those friendships. The personalities of the people are much more important - with the Phone, you could put anyone in that game and not worry about casting.

It might take a few episodes but I don't think that this'll be for me... if "The Mole" was Mission Impossible, "The Phone" is 24, and I really, -really- don't like 24.
