Something to consider, the TWoP Knollers were just about absolutely sure that TPTB were gonna pull the traditional, final 7 Huff Maneuver tonight. That
could definitely have something to do with why they saved Matt. I certainly got the vibe he wasn't going anywhere for that reason.
Of course, they could also save the Huff Maneuver for final 5 week if they want to use it as a lead up to a shocking boot.

 Especially with Simon's comments! This sucks!!! I liked Matt ok, but someone needed to go (as long as it's not my fave three of course).
Lil or Danny (yeah right) should have been gone. That will be so hilarious (but unlikely) if they both go next week.

Hopefully the backlash from this idiotic (but really, not totally unpredictable) move will ensure that the save is NEVER seen on Idol again. A good start would
be to have Matt voted off AGAIN next week, along with Lil, in a glorious double elimination.
This was a pretty bad turn of events, but it could have been worse. They could have used the save on Lil. That would have been reverse racism and upset me a lot more. The reasons they probably bothered with a save at all were as follows: 1) They obviously will not need to use the save on Danny or Adam. We've assumed all along that they were ranked 1st and 2nd in the voting almost every week. Now, you can be absolutely sure that it's true. 2) Matt was one of the pimped ones. I guess they still have some residual affection for him even after a slew of mostly sucky performances. 3) It's a new toy that they were itching to play with, and they were running out of chances to do so. 4) The finalists weren't a very good group. But by eliminating 4 bad people in a row (Michael, Megan, Scott and Matt) the season actually had a chance to get back on track. So the judges felt a need to get involved and fuck it up all over again. |

We should not split our votes. We should give some money to our family members to vote for Kris, Allison, Anoop, and Matt as much as we vote for out favorites. That is the most certain way to get rid of Danny and Lil at one time.

This was, not surprisingly, a very dangerous save. The judge's favorites (or America's) could easily go next week--Adam, Danny, Allison, Kris are all
vulnerable. So why did they do this?
My thought is that they just don't care--they want it this way. The show needs to keep its viewers and its publicity. The use of the save this week not only gives the show a dose of publicity this week, but also in two weeks when someone surprising (Danny, most likely because he's the least commercial of the favorites) goes. The media will go crazy, raising questions as to whether the save should have been "wasted" on Matt, especially if the guy goes next week, which I think is likely if most of his fans assume that he won't be the lowest vote-getter twice in a row. It could happen. So: Publicity Now, Lil and Anoop (maybe Lil and Matt) go next week, Danny at F5, More Publicity, Matt/Anoop at F4, Kris at F3, Adam beats Allison in F2. |

I can't believe they wasted the save on Matt.
If you think about it, the only 2 contestants who have any kind of shot of upsetting the pre-ordained final 2 are Kris and Allison. I like Anoop, but the guy hasn't got a chance, nor does Matt. Allison and Kris NEED to be kept in until final 4. If people are voting, they should spend all their votes on those 2. I wish I could vote. |
