One thing that struck me as odd: the Dharmites and Hostiles are supposed to be mortal enemies. If someone breaches a security perimeter, the groups go banana-sh***t.
But a kid who has been shot goes missing from a Dharma infirmary, and its like nothing happened? His dad goes and ties a few on on the swingset, then gets his bucket out to go clean up the classroom. Wouldn't he be running far and wide screaming about this?
But since hes not, i can totally buy that hes conflicted between caring with some shred of paternal instinct...and also not caring cause he clearly treated Ben as a burden his whole life, actually blaming him for his wife's death.
I think the scene where Ben's dad confronts Jack and threatens to go to someone and tell them his son is missing...id more to show us how pathetic a man/father he is. Hes only going to be proactive in finding his son out of anger and fear. Hes more upset that Kate is possibly lying to him than he is about finding Ben. Thats why he threatens to tell...to get her in trouble. Not to get help.
So no, i dont find it weird that Ben's dad isnt acting as normal as youd like him to act :P
And i think its good writing of complex characters, real conflicted, lost characters you would find in real life that are hard to try and explain in a few minutes on a tv show. Kirblar sees it as bad writing. I dont.
