Maybe I am the only one truly saddened by her death. Not because I so loved Farrah but it was one of the most unfortunate ends of life for this woman who wanted to be famous and respected and now gets that in death. She wanted to be a respected actress but her talents were limited yet she had the "American" look so valued that thrust her in the limelight. Famous before she accomplished anything today that same thing brings us Paris, Nicole, that Kardashian slut but in those days we wanted our 70s women to be and have it all. Blonde, blue eyed, wide smile, lithe body, a charming girlish giggle yet an athleticism about her.

I don't know if any woman was ever jealous of her there was something inherently likeable about her. She seemed to possess what was "real" beauty. Which of course she eroded with breast implants, botox, brow lifts, etc and then that sweetness seemed to $*#*@ into bizarro behavior and desperation. I am not sure if that is a reflection of the industry but of the greater culture that disregards women of a "certain age" which in turn leads to chemical dependency among other things. Her relationship with Ryan O'Neal was obviously destructive, co-dependent and possibly contributory to the problems that befell her and her son.

Watching the documentary I felt at first a little exploited and somehow voyueristic and then it just became sadness and anger. She did not really address the anal cancer which an HPV test sooner might have diagnosed the problem and sought treatments if not understood what to do in the worst case scenario, the sadness that only people with means can pursue private clinics on private planes and they do little more than extend life briefly and give a sense of how little we really know about Cancer and treatments for it. The frustration of the medical system in simply providing quality and consistent care yet can leak private medical data to the fucking tabloids literally requiring a law to stop that.

I just felt sad for this woman who really wanted to be valued but she just did not even have those skills to fully understand how to demand it and even in the last time of life still searching for the camera to find that value. And oddly at one point looking like that beautiful girl/woman she was back 20 odd years ago prior to the botox, anal sex (and we can say that literally killed here a sucks first!) and whatever drugs she was on that were not cancer related. And poor Ryan even he bloated and suffering from his own illness taking a backseat to this odd creature that he still desperately clings to. Next up on the death pool there right after Walter Cronkite.

I am not sure I agree with that 100% Gregoire but on some level she was the quinessential American Icon. And there was this glow about her when she first hooked up with Ryan O'Neal that they were a glam couple like Ali MacGraw and Steve MacQueen in that same genre. They were the Brad and Angelina of their day. But to be fully influential there has to be more than the hair and teeth thing, there had to be a phenomena associated with her and that just did not happen like with Marilyn or Madonna. But undoubtedly she represents a type of woman that is held very much the "ideal" and the only reason why more people are not truly waxing rhapsodic on her was because of the way she was at the end... I do honestly think people are uncomfortable with anal cancer. But she is in my top 10 and I have no semen sadly. I wonder does this mean I am a lesbian?
