It's inherently obvious that when morally comparing the behaviors of Amber toward her boyfriend, verses Eric in keeping her secret yet implying leverage gained by its knowledge, Amber was the one who was the "devil in disguise."
However, dick ultimately used the information as leverage to assassinate Eric's character in the house. Dick had never a problem of repeating information people said in passing or in confidence. He used them in his long winded childish rants. I imagine if Amber had told dick the story, he would have used it against her in a heartbeat.
I was afraid he was going to gnaw on his hand. Poor guy. From what Dani says,
