I'm sorry I already don't remember his performance because all I could notice was how tight his pants were. Maybe that was what he was going for.

Matt was pretty good, in a Justin Timberlake-lite way.

Matt Giraud.
by Marvin Gaye. Sorry, piano or not - I'll be comparing this to the nearly incomparable Nikko Smith version, which had Poler in quite a dither. Nice rehearsal vidclip, though. Tonight's vidclips seem extended, with 10 performances spread over 2 hours. And yes, there's the piano. (Here comes the obligatory "you need to step out of your box" from someone, I suppose.) But Matt mixes me up a little and stands. He's taken the tempo down somewhat, although not terribly so. He's a little shouty in spots, as I suppose he'd have to be; and it's not too overdone. It's vocally solid, although I don't think I'd buy it. But really, I think I preferred Nikko. A 7, maybe. Randy: This is what I'm happy about tonight. This is Motown, the greatest music in the history of music. You set this off on a tone. I know there's some other boy-frontrunners, but that run you did at the end, and how strong your false is, dude, you're challenging them for the top spot! You worked it out! Kara: Yeah, let's get it on! That's what I like, you started at the piano, you're coming out of the shell kinda shy and reserved. You could have pushed it more, but it was a solid performance. Poler: You have a sexy vibe. You don't overdo the riffing, it fits the melody. Like wearing a pair of old jeans. Great job! Simon: Brilliant choice of song, other than the corny bit where you came here. It was a cool performance. Your voice, absolutely suits that song, this is exactly what you should be doing. You are one of the front runners now in this competition! |

OK, so I'm not the only one who noticed how tight Matt's pants were. Not a bad performance. Interesting how he started on the piano and then got up
to do the rest of the song.

"How Sweet It Is?" I don't know, I feel that song always comes off very karaoke.

I think a 7 is a tad generous, SD. :)
