I may perhaps move Crystal picking Susie higher on the list. And I may throw in a mention of Gillian picking Crystal as well. I may include Sugar laughing at Randy at some point, but Sugar never really made an effort to win jury votes at any point, so in her case I'm not sure if it really mattered. And she wasn't playing for the $100,000. She probably didn't know that she was going to be a fan favorite and she probably didn't know the $100,000 viewers choice prize even existed. On a related note, Randy criticized Sugar a lot for this, but he can be faulted for not making enough of an effort to win jury votes as well.

Terry Dietz doesn't use the hidden immunity idol to pull over Bruce and vote off Aras at merge. I always have and always will defend Terry not using the idol at the merge or those first few TC's when he had allies. Bruce was closely connected with Cirie and Danielle and would not have flipped to be fifth in Terry's group (which we know because he didn't flip!) If Terry uses the idol, his protection is gone. He absolutely needs to win every IC because using the idol still doesn't get him the majority. Best case scenario he has a 4-5 deficit at F9 and then gets booted at F4 instead of F3. 33. Jessica "Sugar" Kiper uses her immunity idol to vote out Crystal, one of the only people she could have conceivably beaten in a jury vote. Not sure on this one. I think Sugar couldn't beat Crystal either. Randy and Corrine may not have liked Crystal, but I'd say they disliked Sugar even more. Kenny almost certainly votes for Crystal. Sugar needs all 4 other votes in this scenario, I say she likely doesn't get them. 32. Danielle DiLorenzo votes out Courtney and Shane, the only 2 people she could conceivably beat in a jury vote. As I've pointed out before, at least making F2 is better than not getting there. Danielle needed to vote out Shane because he was coming after her! He voted for her at both F6 and F5, remember? As for the Terry - Courtney - Danielle deal, Danielle is the obvious third in that scenario. You're saying this knowing in hindsight that she won the final immunity challenge. In her position Danielle had all the reason to believe that Terry would win the final challenge and take Courtney. Courtney's goat status didn't just threaten Cirie, it threatened Danielle too. People wouldn't vote out Courtney, they'd vote out Danielle instead. 11. Stephenie LaGrossa and Rafe Judkins allow Danni to win the immunity advantage at the auction reward, then let her convince them to vote out Judd over Lydia, and then don't include Cindy in the vote. This was an insanely moronic move for Stephenie. It wasn't for Rafe. It was a smart move for Rafe as it took away Steph's #1 ally and forced Steph to make him her #1 ally. Rafe's dumb move was voting out Cindy and then Lydia instead of Danni in the next 2 TCs. 3. Erik Reichenbach is voted out after Cirie and Natalie convince him to give up the immunity necklace. I think this deserves #1 for the fact that 1) Ian knew what he was doing when he quit and 2) Colby at the very least had reason to believe he could beat Tina. Erik had no reason whatsoever to believe that they wouldn't vote him out.

Well, first of all, although no one has pulled it off yet, with a Final 3 it's actually possible to win with 3 votes if the other votes are split between the other 2 people. Now, could Sugar get 3 votes? It seems very unlikely based on how many of the jurors disliked her, but I think she would have potentially had at least a small chance. I think she would have gotten Bob's vote, so she would just need 2 more. Maybe Charlie and Randy? Of course she would have to refrain from calling him a jerk probably..... and he'd have to really dislike Susie, but hey, at least she would have had a little bit of a chance. Not only is she someone she could beat at the end, but she was also probably her closest ally, so it was stupid for her to vote her off for that reason as well. And there were 3 more immunity challenges left when she voted off Courtney, so it would be incredibly silly of her to just assume that Terry would win all of them. The bottom line is, she had a chance to win, but she made it extremely improbable by voting off Courtney, and then she made it completely impossible by voting off Shane. This was an insanely moronic move for Stephenie. It wasn't for Rafe. It was a smart move for Rafe as it took away Steph's #1 ally and forced Steph to make him her #1 ally. Rafe's dumb move was voting out Cindy and then Lydia instead of Danni in the next 2 TCs. I think Rafe already was Steph's #1 ally, even with Judd still there, and even if that part of it benefited Rafe, it was still stupid of him to let Danni get the IC clue and it was still stupid of him to not include Cindy in the vote. And ultimately I think even Rafe would have been better off if they had voted off Danni instead of Judd. Judd was probably less of a threat for both immunity and the jury vote. I think this deserves #1 for the fact that 1) Ian knew what he was doing when he quit and 2) Colby at the very least had reason to believe he could beat Tina. Erik had no reason whatsoever to believe that they wouldn't vote him out. I don't understand how Ian knowing what he was doing makes it any less stupid. I think if you do something incredibly stupid knowingly that's probably even stupider than doing something stupid accidentally. I mean, who's stupider, a person who accidentally loses a winning lottery ticket or someone who purposely throws it away? I would definitely say that the latter person is stupider. And even if Colby thought he could beat Tina, there's no way he could be sure about it, so taking that chance and throwing away a sure thing is crazy. Granted, what Eric did was also crazy, but I rank what Colby did as being stupider because if he voted for Tina he would have definitely won the million, whereas Eric would have still had to win a few more immunities. Also, as I mentioned once before, I think it's more understandable to be conned into doing something incredibly stupid by an attractive young woman than to be conned into doing something incredibly stupid by a middle-aged woman. As I've said, I get conned into doing stupid things by beautiful young women almost every day---sometimes even multiple times in the same day---but I've never allowed myself to get conned into doing something stupid by a middle-aged woman, so that's something I just have a lot more trouble understanding. He was teaming up with a powerful pair that had the idol, and trying to take out someone who he wasn't all that close with. For all he knew the original alliance he made with Randy-Susie-Dan was going to stick together and he'd have two more people on his side to help get rid of the Onions... I don't think Matty was the smartest person there, but that move wasn't so horrible.

Sugar flipped because of the way they "yelled" at Matty, not because of his vote.

Posts: 33 (12/21/08 5:15 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I apologize if I missed this, but I think Clay Jordan's performance at the Final Tribal Council in Survivor Thailand (Season Five) deserves to make the list In Survivor Thailand, the Final Two were Brian Heidik and Clay Jordan and Clay lost the million dollars by only one vote.. Some of the really stupid things Clay did included: Jury member Helen Glover asked Clay to tell her what he had done around camp to help the other team members. Clay essentialy told her words to the effect, "What's the point in trying to answer your question? There's no way to ever satisfy you anyway." Helen answered, "OK" - but it seemed clear that what she meant was that based on that answer, she would be voting for Brian. By the way, It seemed to me that Clay's answer was essentially telling Helen to "go fuck herself". Also, when Ted Rogers questioned Clay and Brian, he asked Clay why Clay deserved his vote. Clay gave the reason that he had treated Ted fairly. Ted then turned to Brian and asked him if that was true. Brian replied, "No", which basically was the same as calling Clay a liar and stating that he had not treated Ted fairly. So, what did Clay then say to counter this? You would expect that Clay would somehow deny this and give some reason why he had indeed treated Ted fairly. But all Clay had to say was, "I have nothing more to say". His tone of voice seemed to indicate that Clay didn't consider Ted to be worth his time or worth giving any answer. After all, Ted had just previously called Clay an "ignorant Southern redneck hillbilly". But, instead of trying to counter any of that, Clay just answered Ted by saying, "That's fine", which is much like saying "Whatever". Clay then followed that by saying that he had "nothing more to say" and the context of that remark was that he had nothing more to say to Ted. Ted seemed to hate Brian and Clay equally. But Brian at least made some effort to try and get the jury members' votes whereas Clay seemed to not even care about any of their votes and Clay just seemed to tell the jury to "go fuck themselves!". Amazingly, Brian was so hated that he won by only one vote. If Clay had just played the game for the last 30 minutes (or however long it took for the final tribal council), I'm guessing he might have had a chance to win the million dollars. But what makes this so incredibly stupid was that Clay came all the way through the 39 days only to throw away the million dollars in the final 30 minutes. Clay refused to play the game for the last 30 minutes and showed us how to "Survivor Suicide" by essentially telling all the jury members to "go fuck themselves"! Winning Survivor is a great accomplishment and it adds to anyones' reputation. But winning in one season and then getting the boot early in a subsequent season reduces all that value. It's got to be worth at least $100K in compensation. Brian Heidik was very smart to refuse to compete in any further seasons after winning once.

People don't go on Survivor to boost their reputations, they go on Survivor for a chance to win $1 million and to experience something that few people are lucky enough to experience. And no one should have to be paid to go on the show. They should want to be on the show. Anyone who's so disinterested that they require a large payment just to appear on the show can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. There are plenty of people who actually want to be on the show that would probably make much better use of the spot than they would. And if no other winners were ever brought back that would be something that I'd be totally fine with, because they seem to not try as hard the 2nd time around as people who didn't do as well the first time, and they're inevitably targeted early because no one wants to see a previous winner win again. In any case, if you're trying to suggest that it's stupid for past winners to come back and that should be included on my list, I think that's ridiculous. If anything, I think it's much stupider to not come back. Even though I suspect it would be nearly impossible for anyone to win a second time, it would still probably be an incredible experience and they'd still get tens of thousands of dollars in prize money, so it would be ridiculous to pass up on an opportunity like that.

Also that might have helped Crystal get Susie to flip later on In post-game interviews, Crystal and Ken revealed that they discussed that the idol was a fake, but decided that either way they should stick with their alliance and pick off Corinne and Bob. They couldn't predict Sugar would be so irrational

Honestly, the concept doesn't seem overly ridiculous. Corrinne's exit interview seemed to be positive towards Kenny (obviously not so much the ones when she got home) and that kind of bitterness translated to jury votes (without the easy vote there in Bob, where to go). It's safe enough to say that if Kenny separated the Immunity Necklace from Bob and blindsided him, he wasn't getting his vote, but it was for a jury vote (plus, who knows how Corrinne spreads with the other two). (Edit: I know you said above that you realized the point and you mentioned that you realized it, but that is the reason I picked up. He said it in the game interviews, he said it afterwards, which makes me wonder why you question Kenny voting for Matty despite his knowledge it was a fake. It makes sense to me at the least. The moment should probably still be on the list, but I don't think that high, seems a little on the rough side to have him between a man who had TWO immunity idols and failed to play them and a man who gave up immunity in a dire situation, as well as ahead of immunity idol theatre (Ozzy, Jason, James, etc.). However, Matty wasn't in an alliance with Crystal until after Ace was booted. Matty's alliance with Ace included a final 4 deal with Sugar/Kenny. Matty directly told Ace that he wouldn't boot out Kenny. Do I think it was incredible stupid for Matty to make an alliance with Ace, yes, but he wasn't in an alliance with Crystal until after Ace's boot. Kenny was the one that didn't want Crystal voted out. It was a good move for both Kenny/Matty that was voted out. Ace was an immunity threat, and was clearly the type of person that would flip after the merge.

If Sugar had been playing to win, she would have voted Kenny off anyway---and possibly even earlier than she did. And I presume that Kenny didn't plan on siding with Bob and Corinne permanently---presumably he would have wanted to go to the Final 3 with Crystal and Sugar (with Susie as a possible alternate), but what he did was stupid regardless of who he planned on eventually siding with. Nothing is accomplished by him voting for Matty while having Crystal vote for Corinne. It just leaves him in a horrible situation all around.

However, let's take your alternate reality scenario. At Final 7, Kenny and Crystal jump over and vote out Matty. That pretty much ensures a 4-2 battle: Kotas+Kek-�Crystal against Sugar and Susie. Sugar's Idol was good to F6, so let's say they boot Susie first (or split their votes in a way to avoid being bounced, since I'm going best case scenario for Kenny in realistic terms), and then Sugar (my guess is that since they're all evil, she'd just quit trying). That leads to F4 with what looks like an inevitable tie, unless Bob or Corrinne were willing to turn on each other. Either way, you got a Kota in the finals with three Kota on the jury, with disgruntled Fang as well, with Ken and Crystal possibly splitting votes. And that seems to me best case scenario, unless Ken can somehow save Sugar at 5 by swapping back and going Sugar/Crystal/Kenny, causing a mass jury explosion. But that never came to be. In the end, it seemed to me that in a world of normal Survivor players, it was easier for him to get his goats (Susie, Sugar, or Crystal) on the jury by taking the path he took (and taking an ill-advised gamble to get Corrinne's vote) instead of betraying. They both would have had the same result, getting off a jury favorite while keeping in a power position, but he'd be aligned with people who could win with that jury as opposed to aligned with people who would lose it. He just happened to go up against an opponent who ran on a different set of strategic rails (granted, then maybe your argument IS there...he's a lot more likely to survive to F3 with that alliance than the one he had, but I think a lot less likely to win. Guess it depends on which goal you're looking for). Basically, I'm thinking that the move he made (or by your argument, the lack of a move by not jumping) isn't as bad as some events on the list because he still had a pretty good chance to win. I might say that this deserves to be lowered and Kenny and Crystal having a strategy to antagonize Matty is the more idiotic move. It appears we disagree as to why he lost. I don't think that move caused him to lose. I think it decreased his chances of getting to F3 while increasing his chances of winning, if that makes any sense. I feel more like his and Crystal's actions afterwards (the antagonizing of Matty and his arrogant demeanor from Crystal's boot onward, as well as not realizing Crystal's boot meant he was next) were responsible for his demise. However, you note that you assume Kenny would have double-crossed again to get, ideally, a Ken/Crystal/Sugar-Susie F3. Which at that point, leaves him in Sugar's strategic position as the one who booted half the jury. Not sure how well that would have gone over, even with Crystal and Sugar sitting next to him (or Susie). Edit #2: As I said, I'm not debating its presence on the list. He probably had two better moves he could have made there (all in, or all out). But I just think it's high when a bunch of the moves behind it took a player's chances of F3/Winning from xx% to 0%. It seems kind of odd it's above, just for example, Marcus' blunder of throwing away and immunity idol, alienating Susie by refusing to tell her she'd be F3, and then not checking up to make sure he wasn't going home. You can secure Corinne jury vote better by actually keeping her an extra round (see Parvati and Jason last year). And you don't leave a pissed off Matty in the game to work Sugar, to get into conflict with Crystal, which led to Sugar flipping. Either vote with Corinne a round or two (best bet), or stay loyal to Matty. F7 - Matty goes 4-3 F6 - Sugar idols Corinne and takes the blame F5 - with Bob immune Crystal or Suzie goes F4 - maybe Bob goes, maybe Sugar targets C or S.
