Dubai is a city, the country is the U.A.E. They visit India so often because it's a really interesting country, which presents interesting travel problems. And almost the only stop in a very large expanse of the world where it's safe for them to travel. So here's an alphabetized list. Posts: 6742 02/08/07 03:04 AM TAR Moderator Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I personally list Hong Kong separate from China since TAR2 never even mentioned China and it was all about Hong Kong period. Yeah, it is part of China but it seems to have some semi-legal status as well. And it still has it's own flag as well as China's it uses. Anyway I always count Hong Kong separately just because. I'd count Puerto Rico separate from the US too for similar reasons. Quasi status stuff I guess you could call it. I always list them by continents/areas and pass on transit stops only like TAR1's South Africa one, listing only pitstop countries. That is unless some tasks (like TAR3 Austria and Malaysia or TAR5 Canada) or "something interesting" is performed there. The "something interesting" I refer to is diesel fuel. :-) Funny how we think about stuff like this in so many different ways.

It might all be the UK, but the cultures are different enough to count for me. I wonder how CBS counted them in their tally?

Argentina hosted a roadblock in season 2 (the stairs climbing in Isla San Martín, Iguassu Falls). Kenya hosted a route marker in season 5, where they had to sign in for their charters to Tanzania. There was a fast forward in Vatican City in season 1, but no one took it. All of these countries were visited, but not featured, along with Spain in season 3.

I have no memory of stair climbing at some place called Isla San Martin ever. Iguaçu Falls is in Brazil. TAR2 did NOT go to Argentina.

Posts: 459 02/08/07 01:11 PM Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Although I dont think it should actually count towards an official tally, neglecting to admit that they may, at one point during Leg 2 of Season 2, stepped onto Argentinean territory is just a sign of poor geographic knowledge. The majority of Iguazu Falls is actully in Argentina, but some of it does lie on the Brazilian border.

Iguacu Falls is right on the border. Wikipedia has it, for example, and so does a travel writer who writes about all the episodes. I can't find their sources though. I did come across a post from TAR2 Cyndi saying that the story about Blake and Paige finishing last on leg 2 is false. eta- The detailed timeline at tarflies says the lookout the teams had to run up in the roadblock is on an island in the river and that island belongs to Argentina. The jungle camp is back in Brazil.

I've had friends that visited the falls and stayed in Brazil the whole time. And the pitstop sign read Brazil. I'll go with that as official. And why would they go through customs and immigration and have to go through the whole stuff with the camera claim forms etc just to go a few feet into Argentina when the falls are in Brazil as well? In fact a good chunk of Brazil's power grid comes from a plant built below the falls. Brazil is known for the falls. The two groups of people I know who have gone to Brazil have gone there and never crossed the border into Argentina. Unless the two countries have some joint area where anyone from either country can roam without border crossings then I'd say there was no wandering into Argentina. *Quote:* I did come across a post from TAR2 Cyndi saying that the story about Blake and Paige finishing last on leg 2 is false. Apparently I was completely negligent on my own visit to Iguazu Falls to pay attention to what country I was in. I wasn't aware after staying so much time in Argentina (and then, later on in Brazil) that I was actually in Brazil the whole entire time. I mean, I can get maps for you, but the falls are most DEFINENTLY on the borderline of Argentina and Brazil, and most of the islands in the falls are split more or less towards the Argentinean side. I'm almost fairly certain one does not need to go to customs to visit these islands, or I, myself, am guilty of a crime. But regardless, I don't think it should be counted as a "location" when counting how many times TAR has visited countries.

They might have a common area they agree to share without border crossings despite lines on a map because it would suck for tourists who visited there. And I obviously agree you don't count Argentina for TAR2 since it wasn't even mentioned. I mean if we don't count international airports where even more has gone down and where they mention what country they are in, then that holds for this. More of a "in transit" thing like the airports since they never officially "entered" Argentina with all the paperwork that entails. And I just don't mean just passing through airports without something happening. You could argue that what gave Reichen & Chip the TAR4 race was the failure of Kelly & Jon to get on the earlier flight in Japan. There was lots of footage and drama in that scene. But you have to draw the line somewhere. In the end it comes down to personal tastes. I mean they "entered" South Africa in TAR1 and even overnighted there. But not much happened. They "transited" through Japan in TAR4 and the key moment of the finale happened there.

Hope and Norm were upset by the fact that on the "additional information" sheet that was included in that leg's clue stated that "the jeeps are old and run down, and should they break down, you must pay for them with your own money- it is part of the race." Oswald's and Danny's jeep broke down and they had to pay for a new battery. That's why we were able to come in ahead of them. The jeeps were in horrible condition and we followed Mary and Peach to make sure they made it safely because their vehicle was rocking back and forth. I'm sure Blake and Paige needed a new one and that is production's call at the time.

And I wouldn't be surprised that a Blake screaming "lawsuits" into their camera crew's cell phone helped production make "the decision" to bring him a new jeep. It also explains why the Teeth run to the mat still looks strained and artificial and Phil is really monotone with them. I bet production was pissed off about the whole thing. And kudos to Oswald & Danny for not freaking out and taking care of business the way a Cha should. I bet that would have made the show if the Blakemobile thing hadn't happened and they would kind of been forced to delve into broken vehicles of the Teeth kind as well.
