The preview only focused on one of the challenge. It seemed like a physical basketball match in the water, somewhat like the one in episode three of Guatemala.
Debbie was sitting out.

They CBS Press Express only has pics from the water challenge:

Like Micronesia's sandbag challenge, but with more balls?

Video of Episode Two preview
How does this challenge work? I see red and black hoops, both at one end of the field. Is the ball put in play at the other end and it's a free for all to make the basket? I see Bubbles sitting out. It seems three people from each tribe are on the field and four on the sideline. It also seems to equal matching of female vs female and male vs male players from each tribe. Would that indicate the players rotating up to seven rounds with the first tribe to four baskets winning? |

Is that Debra sitting out? I'm thinking this is near the begining since there are no balls in the hoops. The CBS blurmaster better have his hand on the keyboard |

We see goals for both teams at the same end. The guys on the sideline are the black team. Are there two more goals at the other end, along with the red
team's sideline?
Taj has some meat on her. She could be hard to stop by any of the other (smaller) women. Interesting that the platform for the presumed sit out person is higher than the platform for Probst. Looks like Candace got wide open and is taking the shot.
Like Micronesia's sandbag challenge, but with more balls? And less drowning and broken coral, one hopes. That was a reward challenge, right? Also the giant ball rolling in the mud one in China? |

In the video they always seem to be running left to right.
I agree croc, this is probably the first round For the black tribe I see Erinn, Ben, Brendan and Jerry on the far sideline; Candace, Sierra and Tyson are in the thick of it. Is that a basket of balls to Probst's right? Candace is blurred, top and bottom throughout the video (dang ;) ) Per the photo captions on the CBS Press Express site this is Day 5. Immunity or immunity/reward challenge? ETA: Spotted Sierra and Probst's basket o' balls in the first pic

Looks to be raining pretty hard, too. Hope it cools them down!

Not sure if this really tells us anything, but all these press pics, captioned Day 6, are of the Tims looking relaxed and happy. I don't see any evidence
of reward or II.

Tyson, Jerry, Candace, Sierra, Brendan, Debbie, Erinn - Ben is at exile?
(Sierra built that shelter by herself? Very impressive!) |

After rewatching ep 1 I'd have to say that Timbira built up what Sierra started. I still think that was the smarter move. She still has a chance to look
for the HI also. She seems to have made inroads with Tyson and Debra. Coach is coming accross a 'legend in his own mind' sort just like his website
indicated he'd be.

Debbie, Sierra, Brandon and Candace are laughing their heads off at something/someone. Tyson looks gloomy. Could Ben be entertaining the group?

I think the challenge is a combo reward/immunity. Here we see Jeff addressing the Survivors on their challenge start mats. We see the
basketball goals in the water.
Jeff: There is a twist which I will read after the challenge. The twist is the exile island twist of sending two people? If so then they still haven't exiled anyone as of this challenge. The idol is visible in the 2nd image below. There's another table in the top image as well as a rug on the ground which probably covered whatever the reward is.

They've been running Combo RC/ICs in many of the recent seasons- it's a good way for them to allow themselves more time for camp life/character
development scenes early on.

If it's a combined Day 5 challenge, then birdlady is right. Ben is at exile dune on Day 6.

they won't want a repeat of Marcus' peni.Seriously??!! I only saw one... Looks like. I don't think I like having so many of these. I like the concept of seeing more character development, plus this season with two people surely something interesting will happen on exile. But I like seeing the team organize themselves for activities. If we don't get so many challenges early on, I'd like to get camp activities, not just conversations. Seems like past rewards in flat wooden bowls include shampoo/toiletries, and spices/oil. Probably not blankets/pillows, or fishing gear. Almost certainly not chickens, although it would be sorta cool if they got fertilized eggs and had to keep them warm until they hatched. Those camp photos of the black team look happy enough, but I don't see any sign of a flat wooden bowl or something that couldn't have come from the truck. (Bummer that they pulled out some little birdie's feathers to decorate the water bottles. Maybe next season someone will pull out little tufts of Probst's hair for adornment and see how he likes it.) if you get sent to Exile and know you'll be voted out if you get back...why wouldn't you flip to the other tribe? Could Jalapao lose, with Taj going to Exile, where she flips?Lots of possibilities... If the black tribe wins, and goes with the exiles a weak-player-so-they-might-get-immunity strategy, would they know to pick Taj? Why not Sandy again? (This round, exile effectively is immunity. The tribe can't risk voting the returnee out, knowing that it is possible they acquired a hidden immunity doll while they were gone.) If the exilee knows they will have the mutiny option, they should pick someone to go with them who would provide insight into the other tribe's dynamics (the clear leader, or someone who seems very tuned in). If they don't yet know about that little twist, probably pick someone who looks like they would make the exile experience less unpleasant? Btw, can there be "losing basket" in this game? Usually they play first one to so many points, not whoever is ahead at the buzzer. So if Taj makes the shot that puts them over the top, she's the hero, but if she misses a shot, and the game goes on, she's no worse than anyone else. Unless she makes an own goal, I guess. |

So, was Ben sent to Exile, or dragged along? I think the "happy" Timbira suggests the latter, personally. |
