Bickering couples = ratings gold.

TAR4 had their share of bickering couples and yet it's the lowest rated season.

I think FE is underrated. There were some wonderful teams and some great drama, and although the Linzes were not my favorite, they were tolerable winners. TAR6 is also underrated, although I understand why. What does jump out at me is that as much as I loathed some of the teams in that season, even the later episodes were watchable, whereas I liked most of the teams throughout TARAS, yet I found most of the second half of that season unpleasant and unwatchable.

For unwatchable seasons, I would put TAR9, TAR4, the second half of TARAS, and, obviously disagreeing with the majority of viewers, quite a bit of TAR7.

Two of them were gone in the first 3 episodes and the other two provided the only material for the last week (and the only universally acknowledge good episode after Tian/Jaree left). The alpha-males killed the season, but having the Final 7 be 3 teams of boring males, 2 teams of shrill arguing couples and 2 teams of wealthy women meant most of the diversity was gone by Ep 6. CBS correctly how fatal it was and didn't held off casting any similar teams for 2 seasons. The second half of the TAR4, and the post-Brian/Greg parts of TAR7 are the only ones I'd call unrewatchable (TAR8's second half was dull, but it wasn't dull and unpleasant. And the finale was great).

Nate/Jen are a TV-friendly bickering couple, compared to Hayden/Aaron or Jonathan - the fact they were the only team to get name-checked in Phil's opening narration was a clear sign of how crucial they've been in creating interest this season (I can't imagine Jason/Lorena appearing in the TAR12 trailers even if they made Final 3).

The Family Edition got better ratings then Season 5? I think something is wrong with that lol

TAR5 aired at the same time as Big Brother 5, didn't it? Summer shows usually get weaker ratings. The promos were really good though.

Yeah TAR 5 aired during the summer..hence lower ratings than TAR8 which aired in the regular season.. TAR 6 was actually scheduled to be shown on saturday nights(death slot!) thankfully CBS changed their mind after and put it on tuesday.. back when TAR6 n 7 ran tuesday at 9 wasnt a very competitive timeslot at all.. house was only gettin 4 or 5 million viewers and you had according to jim and biggets loser.. these days you have house doing huge numbers and dancin with the stars similar.. so the sunday at 8 is very nice when you think about it

At 8 p.m., NBC moved into the lead with the 6.9/12 for the football game, beating the 6.3/11 averaged by "60 Minutes" and "The Amazing Race" on CBS. ABC's "Duel" had a 3.8/7, better than "Spider-Man 2" on FOX. The CW's "Story of Santa Clause" had a 0.7/1.

Football improved to an 8.2/14 to give the 9 p.m. hour to NBC. ABC's telecast of "The Santa Clause 2" was second with a 4.3/8. On CBS, the ending of "The Amazing Race" and the spiritual special "In God's Name" were third with a 3.9/7. FOX's movie had a 3.1/5 for the hour, beating an encore of "Crowned" on The CW.

Fast National ratings for Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008

The NFL playoffs and a "60 Minutes" interview with Roger Clemens led CBS to a ratings win Sunday, while new shows on ABC and NBC got off to decent starts.

CBS scored a 9.8 rating/16 share in primetime, with those numbers subject to change because of live sports bleeding into primetime. ABC finished second at 7.8/12, followed by NBC, 6.5/10. FOX drew a 3.5/6, and The CW was barely a blip at 0.6/1.

Among adults 18-49, ABC and CBS tied for the lead with 4.5 ratings, just beating the 4.4 for NBC. FOX averaged 2.7 and The CW a meager 0.3.

An NFL wild-card game and "60 Minutes" averged 15.2/24 at 7 p.m., dominating the hour. "Deal or No Deal" finished a distant second for NBC with a 5.3/8. "America's Funniest Home Videos" earned a 4.8/8 for ABC, topping the 2.5/4 for a pair of "American Dad" reruns on FOX. The CW aired "CW Now" and an "Aliens in America" rerun.

CBS held the lead at 8 p.m. with "60 Minutes," 11.4/17, and "The Amazing Race," 8.9/13. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" drew a 7.3/11 for ABC, just beating a second hour of "Deal or No Deal" on NBC. "The Simpsons," 4.8/7, and "King of the Hill," 4.2/6, kept FOX in fourth. "Life Is Wild" posted a 0.6/1 for The CW.

At 10 p.m., the debut of "Cashmere Mafia" posted a 7.1/12 for ABC, leading in households but trailing "American Gladiators," 6.7/11. CBS' "Shark" also scored a 6.7/11 but came in third in total viewers.

?THE AMAZING RACE 12 (8:43-9:43 PM) scored a 7.3/11 with 11.99m
viewers, 4.7/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.9/09 in adults 18-49. This is the
largest audience for an episode of THE AMAZING RACE 12 since the
November 4, 2007 season premiere.

Earlier in the evening on CBS was veteran 60 Minutes (Viewers: #2, 9.49 million; A18-49: #3, 1.9/ 5) and The Amazing Race 12 (Viewers: #2, 11.63 million; A18-49: #3, 3.8/ 9) from 7-9 p.m. Worth noting for The Amazing Race was growth of 2.14 million viewers and 100 percent in the demo out of 60 Minutes.

very good ratings with such a bad lead in from 60 minutes..hopefully next week it does over 13 million
