Am I the only one who is a bit done with Sugar's "I'm so sweet and good" act? She is responsible for every juror being where they are with the exception of Marcus. And who died and made her the decider of who is good and who is bad? It's just getting a bit old but now I see where the theme of the season comes into play. (I am also remembered of the bible verse, judge not lest ye be judged and she certainly has pronounced her "judgement" of everyone hasn't she?) In ranking the players good to bad, in my mind it goes like this: Bob, Susie/Kenny tied, Matty, Sugar. Why is Sugar last? because she had duped more players this season than anyone else. Usually in Survivor a wild card like Sugar gets booted pretty fast... In ranking the players as gamers best to worst I would have to go: Sugar, Kenny, Bob, Susie, Matty. The only person I would hate to see win.... Matty. The rest have played very different but very effective games and deserve to be final four.

I hated Crystal from the get go. And now she's gone. Because she and Kenny were "putting the stink on Matty"...well, who's the smelly one now? I'm soooo relieved! And the Onions were jumping for joy! This makes it a fait a complis that Kenny is next if he doesn't win immunity. Did Susie vote with Matty, Bob and Sugar? Sugar now is in the mode of "take out the other women." She thinks she can win more if she's opposite men. DON'T THINK SO. But she sure was running the game tonight. WOW! That last moment were she FINALLY played the idol!!!! The whole season really built to that moment. And it paid off! Jeff seemed delighted. I WAS!!! They'll get rid of Kenny next. Bob really was gunning for him since he was left standing on that pole and Kenny picked Kelly. ONCE AGAIN, they hardly showed Susie. Means that whatever happens she doesn't really figure in to it. They DID discuss the Final Idol play. Sugar said to Matty, "You WON'T be going home." Sugar has decided who is good and who is bad and thank goodness, to my great shock, I actually agree with her! Delightful!

Here we have an actress (recruited?) who will get some screen time and exposure and TPTB get someone who creates drama. This could certainly explain Sugar's alliance shifts.

That's what happened tonight and that's what has happened for most of the game. I for one, am glad that we've had one of our most memorable characters ever in every episode of the season.

Posts: 770 (12/12/08 1:11 AM) MESS member Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	ITA ILT! sugar was all set to vote out matty but seeing how he was being kicked when he was down, she did a 180° sugar didn't like the nastyness that Kenny was about to play in getting Bob to give the Holiday Wreath over, then stabbing him in the back so she let Bob in on the deal. Before we knew it, the boot went from Matty, to Bob, to Matty then to Crystal. All because of Sugar. Was it a smart play tonight for Sugar? If she was going for the million, no. But she's said she's playing for 2nd place. Tonight's decisions showed she is doing just that. Opting for Bob or Matty to win vs Kenny or Crystal. Good vs Evil. There were 4 votes for Crystal, 2 votes for Matty. Crystal was gone with or without sugar's token HII handoff to Matty. It did, however, send a huge message to the jury that she/bob/matty(and suzie) are not going to let Crystal & Kenny dictate who goes when. The jury was happy when Bob kept the idol but they were estatic when sugar handed over the HII to matty. It was more symbolic than anything and I for one was cheering the move.

I'd rather her play for FIRST place, and take the person least likely to win a jury vote into the final 2 with her. If people aren't playing to win we get lousy game play. And likely now, Kenny beats Sugar in the final 2, and I do think it will be a final 2. That will be the last minute surprise before the final Tribal Council. Nothing personal against Sugar, but playing emotionally rather than strategically is the cardinal sin towards winning this game. Sigh... It may be entertaining for viewers, but it's like watching a Superbowl where both teams put on their "B" team.

She kicked all of their butts. I don't begrudge her anything. Probst's assertion that there was some season theme of good vs evil or pretty vs ugly or whatever just never showed up in anything I saw. If I were to pick a theme, it would be something along the lines of don't judge a book by its cover. Pretty much all of us had Bob/Susie/Gillian as the first three boots, with Matty and Crystal the merge boots as challenge threats. Kicked our butts, too. Even the fatal flaw of the onions was misjudging themselves - Young, slender, athletic, well-educated, no reason to waste a moment on people who don't share these obvious Survivor winner characteristics

Posts: 2609 (12/12/08 8:29 AM) MESS member Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	No story arcs thread so I guess I'll put this here-- I've been trying to remember exactly what Jeff said--as I recall he did not use the words good and evil but rather some other formulation that we simplified into good v evil. I imagine he was trying to capture the shock of having a final episode of the people who all normally would have left in the first 5 episodes (plus Matty)--5 because Gillian would always be the first boot.. And if Bob and Susie survive to the final tribal, they are definitely the people EPMB always views positively: Bob who is skilled, competent, and appreciates the ecosystem they are in Susie who helps the camp run He also likes the narrative of the person who unexpectedly rises to the occasion: Kenny who had never been out of the house Sugar who also hasn't been in nature and is dismissed from the start on all fronts--brains, social skills, living in nature EPMB is always gleeful when the young and arrogant and useless go down. So, I if I could only recall exactly what Jeff said, I think it wasn't a moral level of good vs. evil but more of a triumph of Survivor's value system.

Crystal and Sugar wanted corrine /Randy out, it was Kenny who changed it over to Charlie. And Corrine sealed her own fate with Susie and Sugar and Crystal for that matter. So Sugar was the power behind Randy and Crystal oust only. I do think she really takes things to heart... When Crystal started in on Matty, Sugar didn't understand WHY Crystal felt the need to kick him when he was going...it was set. But then just being mean and Nasty for the sake of being mean and nasty isn't in her nature. The way she aproached BOB, there really was NO reason for him NOT to trust her. She was just saying vote for who you want but keep your Immunity. She wasn't trying to force him to give it etc... she has saved him from the vote before, she likes him. I also am surprised she is still here, I underestimated her by a long shot. Just like I overestimated Crystal. Susie????? does she speak? wow we haven't had this quiet of a survivor since ZOE. Susie must just be boring, no realavent confessionals etc... just the worker bee at camp and goes along with the majority. She did vote for Crystal so she and Matty are close, I wish they would show more of them talking etc... BOB...yea! Who would have guessed he would be our Challenge hog? (Matty the one they refer to as the BIG challenge threat...not one II yet) so yes for the avg viewer its great to see the ones who you thought didn't have a chance in the world to be in the F5. Susie, Bob, Kenny and Sugar all reek of pre-merge boots!

Really didn't like how she got rid of Randy (not that I'm a Randy lover by any means). So I think that even though she should stick with her alliance of four, she may not. Kenny had better win the next six immunities. ;-) Matty - I really, really, really do not want him to win. He had no strategy of any kind and even though I myself noted that he has won some challenges (all group ones) he's far from the "physical threat" he should be. Bob is a god. They should boot his butt because he's a shoe in to win this. Susie- I think she's made the strategic moves she needed to in order to save herself, she won a challenge and she's a hard worker. But she just hasn't gotten any kind of winner's edit unless they're making her Danni II. (And Danni had more of an edit that Susie has) This is so far from the F5 I envisioned, let alone the F4 that I am just flabbergasted. I don't hate any of the remaining players (but deeply disappointed in Ken who has proven not to be the strategist I thought he was, and kinda mean to boot) but not in love with any but Bob, and that simply because he's a really interesting guy. Gameplay? Not so much. Finally, am I the only one who is not at all in sympathy with that disgusting jury of four? What a bunch of hypocrites. They would have dumped Bob like a shot if they'd been in control at this point, they despise Sugar but were happy when she turned on Crystal. I can't wait to see how Crystal fares at Ponderosa. She's not my favorite person, but I'd wouldn't wish for my worst enemy to go into that high school cool kids (plus Randy) cesspool. ETA: Now that I've seen the Ponderosa video, take that last sentence times 10. The Onions plus Randy are truly awful, awful people. And Chalie admits that he's acting like a two year old! It does feel forced and anytime I hear that the good people must win, those are the people I usually want to lose. It's very convenient to all of a sudden want to align with the "good guys" (and how exactly are they good? Making 2 fake idols, lying left and right to save your own skin) when you no longer need Kenny and Crystal to pull you to the F5. She hates mean-spiritedness until it's her turn to be mean-spirited. Sugar should leave the good and evil to the theologists.

I disagree only on one point, neither Sugar nor Susie should win. Sugar because she has single handedly burned all her bridges and will receive zero votes. Part of Survivor is setting yourself up to not only get in the end game but to also prevail. She has no chance. Susie has really not done much of anything besides work at camp and keep her head down. I can't really respect that game play. Although she is still there and that is an accomplishment.
