What's the difference between Carrie and Kristy? | ||
|
They are both blonde, skinny, generically pretty country singers with cold personalities and no stage presence. But Carrie is a wonderful singer who can do
almost any genre well (check out Hello Young Lovers on season 4's top 9 [musicals] night for some proof) while Kristy has a passable voice of marginal
professional quality.

with cold personalities and no stage presence.I think you a) need to rewatch Season 7 if that's what you actually think about KLC and b) need to forget Season 4 and actually watch some present day Carrie performances and interviews. |

^^ Yeah, maybe...although her record sales would indicate she don't have many fans.

I don't see her in Broadway though. She's more like the county fair and chilli cook-offs kind of a singer.

I'm not sure this is quite the route to take to ingratiate yourself in the country world, but I could be wrong.
Cook Says Underwood is Reason Label Dropped Her Kristy Lee Cook is speaking out against her former record label, Arista Nashville. The
'American Idol' alum says record execs spent too much time and money on another country 'Idol.'
"(Arista) released me again. It's because I was on the same label as Carrie Underwood," Cook tells the Grants Pass Daily Courier. "We're kind of glad that we got released because we weren't getting the attention we need." Cook first signed with Arista at age 17 but was dropped before any music was released. She was re-signed to the label shortly after placing seventh on Season 7 of 'Idol,' and quickly released her debut album, 'Why Wait.' "They promoted it a little bit," Cook says of Arista's attention to the album. "They spent so much more money on Carrie." Cook's first single, '15 Minutes of Shame,' hit the Top 30 on the country charts, but no other singles from the album were officially released to radio. She says fans haven't heard her best music yet. "I have a song that they didn't want me to put on the album that's going to be a hit," Cook insists. "I'm going to take it to another label ... We're talking with Universal right now." (This last paragraph alone makes no sense at all. Why would anyone deliberately keep a hit off an album? I might have been one of the few Kristi Lee Cook fans and was looking forward to her album. I even downloaded it off iTunes to help support her, but can't say I was all that impressed with it. I do have to say, I never once considered Carrie Underwood at fault, maybe that was my mistake, lol. J/K! I do think Kristi has a good voice, but you also have to be given good material. Maybe she was in too much of a rush to get an album out and should have been a little more patient. I wish her luck in re-signing.) |

How can you be a fan of someone, yet you can't even spell her common name correctly?
That's probably true (what Kristy said). I <3 Carrie, and she gets tons of promo, but Kristy literally had zip. I mean, her album sucks in comparison with Carrie's, but you'd think the label would at least give her some attention. 15 Minutes of Shame is a great song and could've sold tons. |

...and Carrie is more marketable and popular. It'd be incredibly stupid for Arista to put her in the back burner for Kristi-Lee.

Kristy seems to forget that she didn't win AI7.

Carrie wasn't very marketable coming off Idol...she had to lose a lot of weight and really hone her image to get where she is today....and her popularity I'd say was made possible by the massive push from the label AND Idol. kristy didn't deserve the same promo as Carrie but she deserved SOME promo, otherwise why sign her in the first place? Interestingly, I just saw her video for 15 minutes of shame on CMT this morning....she looked great and the song was pretty catchy... Top 30 isn't bad either position wise on radio. She didn't need nearly as much work as Carrie did immediately coming off the show and therefore they probably could've gotten a good amount of money out of Kristy without the same amount of investment.... according to their site Carrie is the only female artist they have? http://www.aristanashville.com/artists/ that can't be correct, can it? |

but really only after an extreme make-over Idol edition I'd say. Carrie wasn't very marketable coming off Idol...she had to lose a lot of weight and really hone her image to get where she is today.... Oh brother, you are so damn transparent Green. I'm not even a Carrie fan(not a h8er, but not a big fan either) but if Kelly ever had the "figure" that Carrie had during or even right after her run on the show you would balk if anyone referred to that as fat. I honestly don't know how can you gripe about the Clay fans when you turn around and do the same thing. BTW, Carrie won her season of Idol(probably by a landside) and I'm sure it was pretty evident how popular she was to the producers and I'm sure they had a general idea how successful she would be. KLC was a bottom 3 dweller who was lucky to even make it to 7th place. Big difference there. |

I think the record label could've promoted KLC and made her a star, maybe, but it would be a poor investment IMHO.

Kristy Lee's blaming Carrie Underwood (who has no new CD out to promote, BTW) for the lack of promotion of her own CD is another example of her nasty
personality. Many of us had figured as much during her Idol run and the summer tour. If it wasn't for Carrie's success Kellie Pickler and Bucky
Covington (not to mention Kristy herself) probably wouldn't have gotten post-Idol recording deals at all and Kristy would have been just another forgotten
Idol semi-finalist. Carrie is the one who MADE country music acceptable on Idol and allowed Kristy to get as far as she did (about 5 weeks too far, IMHO--I
think she and David Archuleta should have been in the bottom 2 on top 12 night).
