Just keep in mind that we're on an open board (with limits) and that posts aren't necessarily personal messages that you have to pay any attention to.
ie., If a post annoys you, don't feel it your personal duty to set it right. If someone posts a personal comment, then by all means reply. If the back and forth starts to get too compulsive and personal, I or probably a half dozen others will ask that it be taken to pm or dropped. Choose your posts with some care. Not responding is a response. Often the best response. |

Barely! We have six days to get the new thread in order and everything set up!!! We're so running behind. *t.ears* |

Yes, we're behind. I haven't done much in three weeks + with a nasty case of acute bronchitis and a viral infection. (It best not be chronic
bronchitis or I'm going to jump off a roof.) I've been blessed and rarely had to deal with something lingering on for so long that it knocks me out.
I'm finally getting energy and an appetite back. This has not been fun.
I finally watched the Tonk preview. (They expect me to spell the new location correctly?) Why am I not surprised they asked Sugar to host instead of Bob? Cirie hosted the CI preview instead of Aras. I can't remember if Chris did the Palau preview, otherwise, it's always the winner. Thanks a lot for giving more cash to someone who actively played to lose. At least Sugar looked great. I wanted to contribute to revising the guidelines. I doubt I can help much now. I'm bummed there. But I can't wait for the season to start. As far as baiting anyone, just ignore. That's what PM's are for. I'll stay on as Tonedog or complete any role needed. I would suspect the only week that will be in question for me is the Easter weekend, as my kids will be at home with me all week and I may have to miss rating that week. Otherwise, you're stuck with me again. Opinion on player watchdogs - meh. None could really have traced to Bob or had swayed much. It's more important we all don't overlook some things regarding Bob's edit. Little thing I will focus on this season - one thread that Danni and Bob had was an UTR edit, but with consistent, clear, Positive Tone. Contrast to Austin, who we liked but never earned above a neutral until the end, they crafted Danni and Bob specifically. Bob's was actually easier to see pre-merge. I won't assume focusing on something like that is meant for someone else so readily. So can't wait. Hope everyone is back and energized. And that I'm off drugs and feeling fine by then. Take care. Michael

Austin also spoke a lot more than Bob. He's almost considered the classic narrator type, MOR right down the line. His P was as much for a sunny
disposition (granted, that was also from editing) than anything overtly P. Much of the expository info about that season came from Austin's mouth.

Sorry, but I don't buy the Danni comparison here - Danni only had one P episode pre-merge.Nah, it's just that Danni was a hot girl rather than a cute old (yao) man, so we were more stingly with the P votes. |

I know Danni's Tone would have done nothing premerge. My point was that in Danni and Bob you had two winners who often veered UTR, yet by the finale they
both earned P Tone, multiple times, spaced out. Why give enough editing care to an unimportant, UTR edit? Did Lydia make that impression? When she
wasn't on screen, she's totally forgotten. When she isn't a part of the auction or in the middle of an arguement, Susie is dead background. Why
lay out the time and care to make sure a couple minor characters are well recieved enough for us to rate them with P Tone, if they mean nothing? Taking the
time to craft Tone is important to watch. If no one looks good, that's something to consider. And with Bob and Danni avoiding INV the way Susie and Lydia
couldn't, something else to review.
That's all. Michael |

I'm running out the door again. (Busy busy as usual.)
But, I wanted to announce that I will be setting up the S-18 site this evening. We will not have individual watchdogs again this season. That's not a hard and fast rule as much as just how it stands right now. Ditto any changes to the Guidelines. I think it is prudent to hold off on making guideline changes for another season at least. Bob's win really swung the needle on the dial and I'd like to see us navigate our way through this next season before trying to put Gabon in perspective as far as written guides go. So heads up for the switch to occur sometime this evening, Sunday (for those on this side of the international date line.) Warrior will follow my initial post with three (3) posts. MDN will have his usual spot reserved for strategy charting. scepticA normally has the next post reserved for SPV, but she's indicated that she's not going to be able to do so this season. SPV's important and it's a shame that it doesn't have someone to chart it. Volunteers very welcome. That's the bare bones. My view of this season is to apply guidelines and new assumptions with careful awareness and keep our minds open to alternate possibilities put out there by each other. I expect to see a little less of the flame fests that popped up this last season. And I'd like some of the fan-based drama to pipe down a bit or at least inject some self-effacing humor into the content!! :)P We will use this thread as the official Edgic thread until Warrior, MDN, and scepticA (If she wishes) have posted on the new S-18 thread. |

I'm willing to take over SPV if scepticA needs someone to. All I would need is a quick refresher on the Sneut Gneut stuff.
Also, have we decided how Close Calls are working? Gabon's system didn't work very well. |

Thanks, Blake. Scep will continue to post her comments about what she sees in the SPV. PM her about any way you might be able to work with her. I'm sure
she'd appreciate the offer.

And if these 2 disagree then FLF does the tiebreaker. Tone alternate watchdog. I love tone... and i am willing to work with OTH as his alternate on Tone, unless OTH has another suggestion or if there is someone else who would like to. Rating alternate watchdog after perusing and number crunching the spreadsheets... I would like to nominate Brazil loves Ami to be GF's alternate as ratings watchdog if he is interested. Brazil really has a great sense of where the editors are intending the different edit and it shows... Brazil has one of the very best averages for voting. He came in at the mean/average of the votes over 70% of the time and was never significantly out of sync from the average of the votes received. I also like how Brazil explains his choices and i appreciate how he is always very respectful to other posters. Visibility alternate watchdog i realize that the chart was the deciding factor last year, but i really feel like if it ends up a close call between what the official chart says and "something else".... then i think we need to exaimine why that is, instead of just going with the chart. It doesn't happen very often, but once in a while it does. I know some people only follow the chart and some people decide based on how they feel that presense was. Suggestions for an alternate watchdog who likely does not use the chart exclusively: RedWing and DennyDoyleLives are both early voters, their votes are usually submitted before the vis chart is up. OTH has stated in the past that he usually uses his own numbers. Myself, I usually look at the chart and then decide if that feels right or not. After that I'm not sure... I know others have stated that they don't always use the chart, but i can't think of who. eta: PS> Glad to see you up and about again OTH. Hope you are feeling better!!

I like the plan, Phoenix. Much better chance of not reaching a stalemate.
Warrior hasn't posted yet to the new thread. I didn't give him much of a heads-up, so he may be away from his computer today. We'll continue to use this thread in the meantime. |

I second Phoenix joining me. Love the idea.
I appreciate the mention for V, and it is true, I go by my own feeling and don't use the chart, but I don't want to have a hand in both, so hopefully someone else can look into visibility. Late game decisions. Love 'em. Michael |

I'd consider Danni's birthday party equally P as Bob crying t.ears of love for his family. And I'd consider Danni scoring 3 baskets and being
edited as MVP on an IC win as equal to Bob being edited as MacGyver around camp. And Cindy put down Danni's abilities just like Kenny did with Bob before
the big comeback.
Leann was edited mostly as Ami's sidekick, and her most memorable scene premerge was having to bail on a swimming IC. |
