If you have to write something that long, cut it off at a trilogy and start a whole new series totally unconnected to the first one. Or, gasp, what about a single book that's complete in and of itself? And Gina, at least most of the early Outlander stuff stands alone and you don't have to read the next book.

If Martin dies before I get to see Arya and Jaqen kill a shitload of more people, I'm going to be very unhappy.

Now it seems that he's more interested in traveling to cons and espousing his political views than he is in finishing the books his fans want to read. Personally, I used to check the site every couple of weeks to see if there were any updates, now I can go 4 or 5 months without giving a shit. Steven Erikson's Malazan books have replaced Martin's ASoIaF books as the ones I'm looking forward to reading.
