Lindsay Barr

Quirky yet sophisticated. A jokester yet focused. If there was one word to describe Lindsay Barr, it would probably be "multifaceted."

An art student originally from Newfoundland, Lindsay currently resides in Halifax, which has had a positive influence on Lindsay's career. "We have this wonderfully consistent humility on the East Coast. I'm surrounded by these vast and beautiful landscapes not to mention so many great artistic talents."

Lindsay spends most of her time writing and performing music, making art, and cooking for friends. "I'm most proud of my song creation and artwork. My biggest accomplishment by far has been putting out my first record - it was an amazing experience."

When it comes to musical talents, Lindsay names Canadian duo Tegan and Sara, Ani DiFranco and The Red Hot Chili Peppers as some of her favourites. "I'm really moved by Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers - his performances are from the core."

So far, Lindsay's experience on Canadian Idol has itself been a huge emotional lesson. After rebounding from a rocky audition that even she admits she wasn't sure she'd be able to overcome, Lindsay has learned a lot about herself and her fellow competitors. "I have found that the emotional involvement is more than I anticipated," she says. "I discovered that the competitors are talented and are rightfully their own individuals."

Lindsay says that viewers can expect high energy and emotional performances from her each week on Canadian Idol.
