He can sing but his voice doesn't stand out for me just yet.
I like his minimalistic rendition of "Yellow" though. I'm on the fence. |

The version he did of "Yellow" is the same as the one Brooke does on her pre-Idol CD. I wonder if he ripped if off from her or ripped it off from the
same person who she ripped it off from.
Either way, I like him. |

Martin KerrUpdated Wed. Jun. 18 2008 11:42 AM ET It's fitting that Martin Kerr identifies with the song "An Englishman in New York," by Sting. After all, he is one-half of the British Invasion coming to Canadian Idol this season. Hailing from Oakham, Leicestershire, UK, Martin now makes his home in Edmonton, a place he says has provided a strong foundation for his musical aspirations. "Edmonton is very supportive of independent music. They allow buskers to play on any street without a license and have many venues to play at with weekly open mic nights." Martin left home the day after he graduated high school to travel around the world, spending time in China and the United States. It's been an adventure that has primed him for Canadian Idol, which has been an experience already. "Canadian Idol reminded me that there are few things in life more precious than good friends who will encourage you and collaborate with you," he says. "It's also really boosted my confidence as a performer." Martin counts Jack Johnson as one of his favourite performers, and hopes he can one day play a live show with former Canadian Idol finalist Theresa Sokyrka. While Martin is ready to take centre stage and perform for Canada on this season of Idol, he still counts the simpler things in life among his favourites. "I'm most comfortable when I am sitting on the sofa with my wife, with a mug of Earl Grey tea and a box of Trivial Pursuit cards." Beyond writing music and performing, Martin enjoys playing soccer (or football as he calls it!), board games and watching theatre productions. When asked what he'll bring to the table this season on Idol in order to succeed, Martin says, "A lot of faith, hard work and humility."

Ron Weasley impressed me!
However, anything's better than Elaine doing Elvis. |

Martin reminds me of a skeleton. He kind of scares me.
And he knows how to speak Mandarin? He's so gonna steal the free-agent Asian voting bloc. How strategic of him. |
