So, here's the lowdown. Right before All Stars, I decided that Big Brother deserved its own Hall Of Fame. I set out the following criteria:
1) Players are eligible once two seasons have finished since their own. At the time, BB6 had ended over six months before, making BB4's contestants eligible.
2) A player needed 65% to be elected.
3) A player needed 25% to remain on the ballot.
4) Voters could give a "yes" vote to a player for any reason they chose. Strategy, entertainment value, back hair, etc.
While the thread and poll generated a massive number of responses, it also led to nearly no agreement as to who deserved enshrinement.
The following were elected:
1. Will Kirby
2. Danielle Reyes
That's it. Few others managed to reach 25%, they were:
Nicole Nilson Schaffrich
Monica Bailey
Lisa Donahue
Jason Guy
Amy Crews
Marcellas Reynolds
Jun Song
Alison Irwin
Erika Landin
Not much of a field for future ballots, no? Anyway, the project was shelved for a while as I didn't feel it had much of a future.
Until now.
After taking the time to sort up an adequate way to reboot the BBHOF, I decided that players need to only top 50% of the votes to be inducted. Frankly, BB fans notoriously hold crazy grudges and can't agree on anything, so this seems like the correct move. The inductees from the first ballot are now:
1. Will Kirby
2. Danielle Reyes
3. Amy Crews
4. Jun Song
I also decided to lower the threshold for ballot access to 10% for the second round, reverting back to 25% after the round ended. This seemed to still weed out plenty from the first batch of rejects while bringing back some that have gained support in the time since. In our second round (Spring 08, post-BB9, BB1-BB7 eligible) we elected:
5. Alison Irwin
6. Diane Henry
7. Jennifer "Nakomis" Dedmon
8. Janelle Pierzina
Round three will occur with the culmination of BB10. Thanks to everyone who voted in both elections.
