Please elaborate on the Daughtry trying to pass off songs thing. I thought was just the one song, maybe I'm incorrect. And I must have missed the "bunch of things" Cook has done to make people dubious about him on a personal level. I may have to change my mind about him, but I need more information on all these things he's apparently done.

eta: I totally agree with Blue. I always have a soft spot for Bo because a really good friend of mine (from online) was a HUGE Bo fan. Unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago from cancer (way too young) but I'll never forget how much she loved Bo and watching him perform each week.

Maybe they're confusing David Cook with Michael Johns. Michael had all the scandal with stealing songs from his previous bandmates and trying to pass them off as his own. Cook's dubious distinction is pilfering other artists' arrangements from the internet and not giving them credit until he was forced to do so. I don't think he ever would have owned up to it and would have let everyone think he dreamt this all up and taught it to the band in his one hour of weekly practice time he had with the band. The pressure from the internet message boards forced him to admit they were other artists' arrangements, but only after he reaped the benefit of performing them for 6 weeks and not giving proper credit until he was forced to do so. I think that alone kept him in the competition long after he should have been gone for being just another bar-trolling ordinary band guy.

He is, however, guilty of being contemptuosly smug, cocky, self-absorbed, pompous, big-headed and egotistical, just like Simon has pointed out to him.
