Today's the Boston Marathon. In New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, etc, this would completely shut down the city.

Boston's smarter than that. They created a drinking day called Patriots Day. The Marathon starts at 10:30 (whither the Marathon play by play thread?), the Sox play an 11 am game, and bars are busy all day with drunken Bostonians.

Some tip a beer and thank your lucky stars that you're an American by celebrating Patriots' Day. (no cyber drinks will be served and absolutely no "cyber drunk" posts allowed)

I'm setting it at 2. The hospitalizations will set a record, as will the temperature. Target to beat was in 2004, when it hit 86F. Race officials have offered to amnesty for any runner wishing not to participate this year, and will honor their bib in the 2013 Marathon.

No Merkyl, this is Red Sox country. Yankees play further south.

Over/under? I'd take the over too. Most of the people that a smart enough to realize that they won't be able to handle the conditions will defer to next year. The bozos that try despite not being conditioned for this will probably be too dumb to ease off their pace until they're having their heart attack.
