Your welcome Chevy. It looks like Natalie could have at least 2 confessionals next episode!

Oh my, in one episode, Natalie may be so visible that she doubles her total confessional count from the first 10 episodes!!

If it wasn't for our spoilers, I'd sure be thinking this was her visibility spike for her boot episode.

Birdlady is right as we have a spoiler that Natalie makes it to the loved ones visit and it is a little too early for that. However, the next episode is the food auction reward and in Survivor Guatemala, the food auction and the loved ones visit were in the same episode. The fact that Natalie was in both promos after being invisible all season is not a good sign for her. She is also portrayed as being somewhat smug in both promos. Last week, Ozzy was shown in the promo stating that "It's the stupidest move in Survivor history" and look what happened to him. I'm sure that Amanda and Cirie would love to break up Parvati's clique and get either Natalie or Alexis out and they can easily get the votes (James, Erik, Jason) to do this. With Natalie or Alexis gone, Parvati would be forced back into her original alliance. Based on reading that voice over, I'm wondering if Natalie is out next. It's a very typical contrarian pattern that they have had before in the promos. Back in Survivor Amazon, there was a promo about how the alliance of Rob/Jenna/Heidi/Alex had taken control of the game and of course it was a promo for the episode where Rob turned on the alliance and moved to get Alex out of the game. Here, again, the have the same type of cocky voiceover; - "On this island women rule. They have complete control over the men." Indeed.

Natalie makes her series debut in Episode 11! At last!
|
So FINALLY we are going to get a chance to meet Natalie, the Invisible Fan Woman and a lesbian to boot...She seems like a tiny, petite version of Ami...And the
minute they set up someone saying something definitive and cocky as TullFan, I believe mentioned above, they are being set up to be knocked down.
Natalie "plan" I think is to make it seem like everyone is targetting Alexis, so they can blindside James or one of the men...Jason better win immunity again. So far the challenge seems to be a betting money on food or a fake-out or even GASP! A trip to Exile Island! Yes, they could do it this way now that the HII will be re-hidden. The NEW REAL HII that is... Why do I think Cirie gets sent there and she finally DOES find the Idol!?? And we'll all be dancing in the streets! Yes, and Natalie may even be styling herself as the Black Widow, too... Let's see that gives her a two maybe three episode story arc. But SHE could be the one who worms herself into the Final 3 We know two people get three votes each and one person gets one and is disqualified. This could be Natalie. Or it could be Parvati and they then have to vote again on the remaining two.

My thoughts:
The person who's ruthless and has a smile on their face is almost definitely Catalie, because she talks about being ruthless in one of the previews. Logically the black widow should be Parvati, since she's the one contemplating voting out her love interest, but based on the previews it's possible that this might also refer to Catalie. The fan who targets another fan is probably Catalie targeting Jason. I believe this because I think Jason is the person voted out in this episode and because it fits with the focus on Catalie in all of the previews. The stuff with Parvati and James probably doesn't lead to anything in this episode, and may never lead to anything. If he leaves due to an injury, as has been rumored, then Parvati will never have to actually vote him off. Also, James is probably around in the next episode because he's probably the person who says the title quote. |

Best Post on Survivor I've ever read!
|
I hope the new poster SurvivorMama doesn't mind me bringing her over her. I read this post in Edgic and was just BLOWN AWAY! I think it's the single
best post on Survivor I've ever read. No, I really mean it.
Survivor Mama wrote- "This is my second post and I still do not understand how the ratings work here, so I speculate soley on the edited tv show. I am a news producer for my local radio station and have my MFA in RTF (Radio, Television, and film). Since all of my family, friends, and coworkers watch survivor, it is a source of conversation. In fact, one of my coworkers turned me on to this website. Anyway, my family and friends are average viewers and they think Pavarti seems entitled and cannot stand her. They love James and Ozzy, but don't think they can win. They think Cirie has the best chance because she is playing the smartest. These comments are based on what the editors showed them. My coworkers and I,on the other hand, have a different take on the editing due to the fact that we edit news stories for a living. When a show's filming has been wrapped, it is the job of the editors to FIRST view all 936 hours of footage (probably in 72 hour increments) to establish the w's (who, what , when, where, how, and why). This is how they edit the basic footage for an episode. SECONDly, the show's producers and writers (yes, reality shows have writers) create a theme and storyline that will entertain the viewers. Remember, the most important reason these shows are on TV are for ratings, so this is the most manipulated. This is where the writers "create" the main character(s). The hero(ine), villain could fit the role of more than one person, but it depends on who wins or makes it far. This is where it gets tricky because we are sometimes mistaken and assume one actions meant something else. Personal biases can judge how a person actually perceive the "characters". THIRDly, the supporting cast is created. They are supposed to prop the main characters (heroes and villains). They help set the tone. Sometimes, the supporting cast member gets lots of screen time because their demise is approaching or they are very entertaining or great "go-to people" (give great confessionals). FOURTH, music and imagery are added to the "storyline" for tone as well. Triumphant music, sympathy music, mocking music (when Jason found the "idol", etc). FINALLY, information about the winner is manipulated to not give the winner away, but to show the audience why the winner deserved to win. You see major strategic actions and conversation. They get key episodes, but most of the "story" is about the theme related heroes and villains. This person may be the hero, but usually not. This person plays the supporting cast member, but receives confessionals that are game related in EVERY episode. The producers look at the edited footage and story for final approval. The producers are meticulous to not give away the obvious winner and to make sure that the character appears to be what the writers created so there is no ambiguity in the story telling. So, according to the rules of basic editing (I know that this is not the rules and ratings for edgic, but I could not find a more appropriate site or forum) here is my speculation: MAIN CHARACTERS: showmance pair and Cirie HEROES Amanda and James (sympathetic music when James talked about the fans "should be dead"; constant shot of Amanda's doe eyes; James getting angry at the challenge in which Eric drops her on her head, Amanda in near !+#++ after learning about her new alliance-sympathetic music; Sympathetic music when James talks about being unappreciated for staying up all night tending to the fire- lets face it, the powers that be love James and Amanda so the fire scene was shown to show Parvati as negative.) VILLAINS Ozzy and Pavarti (TPTB love Ozzy but they had to show him as a negative unsympathetic character or the viewers would be upset at his inevitable blindside and may lose viewers and money; Ozzy manipulated as insensitive towards Cirie re: the boat- Cirie's confessional has sympathetic music so we are supposed to side with her; Ozzy talking about how if Chet,Eric, Tracy blindside him, he will jump into the water naked, Ozzy perceived flirting with Alexis, Ozzy bargaining Cirie and Chet with Joel when the tribal mix-up first happened, making the fake idol and laughing at Eliza when she played the fake; talking about food in front of hungry people. Parvati talks about not flirting, but is shown flirting, talking about pee water, people not in her alliance are dead to her; Jason is a "loser", put Amanda in an alliance to benefit herself and not take her "friend's" perspective into account (Amanda is shown very hurt), talks about how Eliza is "looking at her" in a mocking tone, use of the word "obnoxious" to James. WINNER Cirie (Parvati could still win if the theme ends in redemption and we start to see her evolving, but she lacked a game related confesional in some episodes). Cirie has had a game related confessional in every episode, even if it was "as long as it is not me" to be kept on the radar; her edit has been consistent; she has not been too negative with the other players -When she argued with Johnathan and had her confessional right after that, sympathetic music was playing; Yau Man is a beloved "character", but we got no confessional from him as that would make Cirie more negative; her one major source of conflict is not on the jury; we don't have to get inside her head every episode because she is strategic, not emotional; her mantra -"don't take anyone at face value; I don't trust anyone; as long as it's not me" . Parvati's " I didn't come here not to win this time" does not sound like a winner's quote to me. In fact it sounds like the kiss of death in reality show "I didn't come here to make friends, I came to win". Cirie's "as long as it's not me" has proven to be quite effective. If Yau Man had stayed in the game, at one point it would have been her and she did not want to chance that. During that episode, Parvati was a target, but we got no confessional from her about her strategy or how she felt - not good for a winner. Then, when Joel wanted to get rid of the weak, she got rid of Joel. She did not have to make any major plays until the last episode because she felt as if she was in no danger. In fact the best winner's quote was from JFP "slow and steady wins the game" which is what Cirie is doing. Why put that quote in? JFP was voted out. Parvati is the opposite- too many alliances, hot pickle, damage control- nothing about this is slow and steady. Yes Parvati has end game confessionals, but they are make as many alliances as possible, then make a decision as to which members I will backstab. With Cirie, she made a final 3 alliance in episode 3. She is going to lay low and have the pawns take out the players that are "not me". When a piece gets in her way, she is going to eliminate it. There is nothng wrong with this strategy. Compare this with Parvati's. She made alliances with multiple people who she will have to turn on. People may respect her gameplay, but if Cirie is in the final three with the only people she promised (Amanda and Parvati), Cirie could easily say I made big moves that advanced me further in this game without breaking promises. I am sorry I voted you out, but I made you no promises. Amanda could say she did not break any promises (she did to Jason). Parvati could say I did it because it was strategic. Which do you think would be well received? (rhetorical, of course) Parvati's edit reminds me of Dreamz's. Any way, thanks for taking the time to read my long post. Yau Man was my favorite contestant, so if Cirie wins, I don't think that I will be happy, but I have to admit that she and Parvati are the only two that have been consistent in the editing as getting to the finals with Cirie winning. I look forward to reading your ratings each week. I am glad I was turned on to this site." Last Edited By: survivormama 04/20/08 3:25 AM. Edited 1 times.

Thanks for the re-post from SMama. Nice to hear from a professional in tv production. I think I'm going to listen more carefully to the music as this can
be a clue as to how the production crew want our mood to be with each character/situation. I remember in the last TC, when Jeff had shown 3 votes for Jason,
and pulled the next vote for Ozzy - the music really changed, indicating something was happening.

I still feel like there has to be a fans vs favorites aspect to the end game. Obviously the editing couldn't ignore that completely, since that was how the
game was set up, but I think they could have shown us less of it early on if all the stories and main characters were faves. And not hyped it in Probst's
pre-show interviews.

Cirie is one of the greatest players of ALL TIME
|
I think we are going to come to the conclusion that Cirie is one of the greatest Survivor players of all time, and therefore she deserves to win. Jeff has
called her that in various situations before. She also certainly is popular. As was Yau-Man.
SurvivorMama had many great points.(And when I posted it, Yuku erased all her paragraphs. You can read it - with paragraphs- In Edgic). Entertainment and ratings DO figure in. And I think Cirie being a HUGE fan favorite is being featured so prominently because she IS entertaining and viewers can relate to her. Her One Step At A Time stategy is VERY carefully delineated AND it's effective. It's working. She's STILL there. And no one has talked about how she could win and "No one can win against her" YET. And no one can... They also as SMomma said, need to set up a "villain" and this time it's turning out to totally be Parvati. Cirie needs to have some serious competition to make it dramatic, and that's Parvati, especially since the fans are all turning out to be total wash-outs. Jonathan's opening salvo about the Boston Red Sox is really the theme of the show. "You may love to WATCH the Boston Red Sox, but you don't want to PLAY the Boston Red Sox." And the fans are all not giving us much effective game. Cirie is also shown NOT LIKING THE FANS. Re: Catilly & Exlaxis "Who are these people? I don't want them on my beach." Amanda, now the sympathetic, wounded one, is upset about Parvati putting her in an alliance with ExCat because she doesn't know if she likes them. Eric has gotten a very positive spin in the last episode in the Tribal Village, but I think that's because he's going next. Cirie remember, went off on his love of Ozzy, on NuMalakal, and didn't like him because of that. She went on and on. And now we see vidcaps of Eric and Amanda making doe-eyes at each other. New "Mastermind" Catalie is seen saying she's taking over and that she is going to get rid of all the men and she first proves this by taking out "one of their own" another fan, which if it's a blindside, would be Eric, who is certainly not expecting to be voted out, while Jason said last episode, he is. Sounds like he wins immunity again. |

Hell I think everyone but Natalie (she didn't learn to talk yet) practically said it |
